Thieves troves

How many have you found? I just traveled to Rivenspire, just to do the last quest I needed for Covenant Hero, and I found 7 this morning!

Post Nerf, I find 2 to 5 on each login, depending on how much running around in the hinterlands I am doing. I have found a few in the cities, in fact, I found one last night in Stone Falls and two in Shornhelm (main city in Rivenspire, hope I got it right).

Is it just me, or do the troves give up less valuable loot since they were patched? I was getting more variety and more sets and more maps before the change. Now it's mostly pots and leniency pages.

Since the original patch my experience was few and far between and little of value with anything more than a few lock pics and low end treasure maps rare.

I stopped looking and just grabbed maybe half the time when I was lucky enuf to cross one.

After Easter patch, still infrequent but the volume of items seems up if not the quality. But it's too soon for me to be sure.

Initially, I was farming the Troves in Hew's Bane and I did get a lot of the new Set Items. Since I have found most of my Troves outside of HB. I think I have gotten one set piece since the nerf, but don't know if that is because I am not farming them in Hew's Bane anymore.

I find about one a map in the PVE areas after the patch. Usually containing nothing of any real value and I don't even bother looking for them anymore.

I got a purple V6 ring out of one in some vanilla zone (I was V6 at the time). Other than that, mostly decon/research stuff.

For the first few days after the TG update, dozens upon dozens.

In the few weeks since they nerfed them into oblivion? Like 3 total.

ZOS doesn't believe in a middle-ground.

I say if you're going to nerf the spawn rate then buff the quality of the items found. Make it actually worth looking for! Treasure chests already contain lame crap with no more than 100 gold and a single piece of green weaponry or armor for decon. Thieves troves should definitely have items of higher value than the treasure chests because currently both are a waste of time.

I have recieved a lot of counterfiet pardons. After lootjng a trove today, I went into an NPC's house, looted a dresser, and found a ship ticket worth 1,500 gold!

I usually find at least 2 per login. Although when I venture out to the edges of the map, I end up finding like 4 or 5 per login. I've found more crafting motifs than I have troves to be honest lol. And I don't even craft!

all of them is trash with lock pick.

I found my second Thieve's Trove today. It had six lockpicks.

As someone who tries to farm them(as best as we can now with the limited opportunities) not taking the lock picks is the dumbest thing to do with one. If you don't have ANY, good luck opening a regular chest you find while exploring. If you don't do the troves all that often, the lockpicks can be sold to a fence for a gold each... Assuming you actually went there to sell/launder whatever else you got in the box why not sell the lockpicks if you don't want em...

If you are trying to farm them to maximize gold per hr, then leaving it there shoots yourself in the foot because another box somewhere in the zone will be spawning in 5-10 minutes...


Unless you are trying to screw someone else over. Then leaving the lockpicks makes perfect sense.

There's nothing in the Swindler's Handbook about having to take everything from a trove or chest.

There is, however, a little Monkey Business section on how to trade a painted gut for a banana in Valenwood.

That is because this trove was already looted - and they left the lock picks in the chest. A not-yet-looted trove has always something else than just lockpicks in it.

yes they are pretty much as pointless as the treasure chests and locked chests now.
No idea why they even program this stuff if its not worth the players time.

I found a thieve's trove today and it gave me an epic v16 precise Bow of the Night Mother.

I come across them all the time now, and I don't even have the skill line to open them, much less have the DLC itself...

I love how they work now! I was neck deep in getting all Skyshard and quests done for the Tamriel hero title and I found about 5 in Rivenspire!

You kind of stumble on them while running around the map picking up skyshards. I'm leveling a new toon with the cake bonus and I'm finding lots of these. Rivenspire is cool, the devs seem to have tucked troves inside every broken tower in the zone

Varies a bit for me, but I would say about 4 or 5 a day. Nothing truly valuable, but free money is free money. Wish the maps were more usefull. Not sure I need maps in starter areas, since chests only scale to the areas max they're not worth it. But then again, I don't really need the stolen lockpicks either.
