How Much Would You Pay for the New Assistants?

I'd Pay in Game Gold; Not Real Money
I'm one of those craaazy people who remembers MMOs before cash shops - I'd like to earn it through gameplay. If that means in-game gold, then so be it. Heck, you can even offer it on the cash shop, I'd still rather earn it.

Until we get an option to change our appearance, I can't possibly get excited about other QoL updates.

From the numbers I'm seeing, roughly 50% of the players would buy them if they were priced between 1500-2500 Crowns. Less than 10% of the players would buy them for 5000 Crowns. Those are pretty sobering numbers.

If I was in charge of the Crown Store pricing at ZOS, I'd have this thread bookmarked.

That wasn't my point. My point was that forum mods closed the other poll expressly because it duplicated an ongoing discussion. Now a similar poll, although more favourable to ZOS, is allowed to continue. Double standards and stuff...

Tone matters, you can ask @FENGRUSH about his experiences if you want. But, honestly, this is asking a different question from the main feedback thread. Instead of asking, "are you okay with this?" Which, I think it's pretty clear the majority answer is "no," instead I'm asking, "where would you set the price?" Or, "what would be reasonable to you?"

Money spent on video games is a really funny thing. There's no consensus about how much is too much. In large part because the people who play video games are so diverse. We have people pulling down six figures a year on these boards, who look at a $50 microtransaction and can say, "yeah, no, that's fine by me." We've got people who earmarked out of their budget to buy the base game, as some kind of stress valve who look at this and go, "no, that's insane! If I'm going to spend that kind of money on a game, I'd need to get my money's worth. Maybe a new game would be a better commitment of resources."

Both of these groups, and in between are playing the game. My question going in... which the poll doesn't really answer is, "if you can sell one for 5k, how many could you sell for 4k? For 3k? For 2k? For 1k?" Could you actually make more money on this if the price was lower? Looks like... yeah, probably.

Judging by the numbers here, and ignoring the margin of error for a minute, and taking everyone at their word... (so take these numbers as generalizations, rather than hard data). If you priced this at 1k, you would get 16.3 times as many sales as you would at 5k. Or 16.3k crowns to 5k. When you jump the price to 2k, your sales drop to 7.3 times as many. That's still 14.6k for every 5k you'd get at the current pricing. And, granted, I'm using crowns here instead of actual cash values, but the idea should come across.

ZoS could make considerably more money by selling these at a substantially lower price. Probably three times as much, judging by forum feedback. Which is good to know, and good to be able to show, even with methodological issues.

So was the other poll though. It was also asking which assistants people would be getting if they were OK with the price to try to determine which was more popular. It got closed anyway, despite the fact that the main thread can't hope to answer that question.

Well they do need to make
money, Some how even if they to turn their customers hair into a squirrel.
It would be funny if they added a hair style like that into the crown store.
On a serious note, I might buy the banking assistant that would be usefull, but I want them to take my advice I posted on the first or second page of this thread, it would give them money and I am wanting a vampire thrall assistant!

Suggesting that they have no insight in what their customers are prepared to pay. I'd wager they either have data that counters the results of this poll (forumposters are a very tiny subsection of the population), or they full well knew in advance that they priced it too high for big sales. In which case I imagine them to be more concerned with the general effect of large amounts of assistants in the game, rather than direct flow of income. Laudable, I'd say.

I think they are missing s golden opportunity to have had some really cool quest lines for a chance to earn one in game play, they could have offered them for sale later, for around 2.5k, I don't think the are worth more than what most DLC's sell for.
I know they are a for profit company, but I would bet a weeks pay if I had a weeks pay lol, that they would have sold more at 2k than they will at 5k, and made a lot more money.

There is a quest line to earn one.The Thieve's Guild will award you the Fence when you finish the main questline.

I can understand why they would be 5,000 Crowns. With these assistants you may never have to physically go to a bank or merchant anymore, you can just open your Collection UI and do your transaction/sell junk.

Not only that, but it's also accessible to other people as well. Saves time if your group member forgot to clean his/her inventory, or if you want to give something to a player without having to travel to a bank. There are many good ways for these assistants. If you're not lazy then don't buy them :disappointed:

I think 2000-3000 crowns would have been somewhat reasonable, but certainly not 5000, especially considering their limited functionality. And as someone who is sitting on 12,000 crowns and can afford more if needed, the availability of funds is not the issue. Like someone previously posted, if you pay 5000 crowns you feel like you have been violated, and I agree :)

I'd pay 2000 - 3000 Crowns, but so far I'm done spending money on ESO anyway until they fix the Maelstrom drop rates and either implement a token system or, at the very least, guarantee you a Maelstrom weapon in the last chest.
