Deconstruct EVERYTHING, hoard mats, do crafting writs, get teh addon Lost Treasure or something that tells you where are the surveys / treasure maps, and then when you get high level crafts you can either loot some nirn from the surveys in craglorn, or v16 mats from surveys in orsinium. There are also some group dungeons you can do at V16 that mobs drop v16 leather / items.

But as a beginner, you'll not need gold for pretty much anything, except a pony (and only if you want). as long as you sell everything worth mroe than 50g and decon everything else, you're good.

I use a combination of AUI and FTC, as well as Srendarr.
Awesome Guild store and Master Merchant (which I disable during dungeons, raids and pvp) for trading.
Shissu's LUA Memory to get rid of error messages when using too many addons.
Destinations/Skyshards/Lorebooks when I was leveling new characters.

Sell looted gear in guild stores and when out questiong gather all resources, ores, wood, flowers, runes you can sell them for good chunk of change. Join a trade guild the members there will help. For new players, your inventory space is going to be small so that is going to be your goal to keep upgrading bag space and bank space.

Foundry Tactical Combat (allows you to track the damage you are doing)
Srendarr (buff/DoT tracker)
Skyshards (puts skyshards on your map)
Lorebooks (puts Lorebooks on your map)
Master Merchant (for seeing average prices of items)
Greymind quickslot bar (pretty sure that is right name, for keybinding different potions)
Dresssing Room (for quickly swapping gear and skill bars)

Useful:
Mobile Bank Extended (to look a inventory on other toons)
Advanced Filters (better management of inventory)
Minimap (several to chose from, puts a minimap on your screen)
Multicraft (making lots of potions at once)
Public Dungeon Champions (puts dungeon bosses on your map)

Not much of a cheating if youre just leveling another alt and "explored" the zones more than once.

Research Assistant - If you are planning on doing any crafting in the Blacksmith / Clothier / Woodworker lines, this addon will help you keep track of what to keep or sell and what you have stored in the bank already. Must have.

AI Research Grid - see above

AUI/LUI/FTC/Combat Cloud - all have either floaty text or status bars upgrades that you can mix and match with.

Skyshards/Lorebooks/Destinations/Lost Treasure - helps you find everything you want while wandering around the map. Note that Public Dungeon Champions has now been rolled into Destinations since it is no longer maintained.

Sous Chef - if you plan on doing any Provisioning - will help you keep the stuff you want to save space in your inventory.

Awesome Guild Store - Gives you a comprehensive search function for buying from guild stores. Unbelievable how bad the default one is.

Crafting Level Material Display - what is this material used for? Well you can look it up on the web, or this addon will just tell you on the tooltip.

Advanced Filters - What's better than 8 categories in your inventory? ~42 sub-categories inside of those 8 categories. Find stuff faster.

Harvens Improved Skills Window/Extended Stats - Let's you see what your skills will become, and the second one gives more details on your stats window.

Not much of a cheating if youre just leveling another alt and "explored" the zones more than once.

At worst you are cheating yourself, and it's not a race to find them first, nor do you get any reward for being the fastest to find them all. So not much of a "cheat" either.
