An Inquiry About Clever Alchemist

I find the clever alchemist set to be very interesting, but I also see it more as a gimmick because of the small window you have to use the weapon/spell damage. I was thinking of running 3 body pieces of Julianos (Hunding for Stamina) and Dual Wield to get the five piece bonus. My 4 remaining body pieces would be Clever Alchemist with my back bar weapon being a Staff (or any thing for stamina) to get Clever Alchemist 5 piece bonus on my back bar.

My question is, "If I pop a potion on my back bar and then switch to my front bar, will Clever Alchemists' effect persist for it's duration?"

Yes, I believe Sypher is using a similar setup in PvP. He has 4 Clever Alchemis armor and pieces and a Staff on one bar. He then has 3 Vicious Death armor pieces and two Vicious Death swords on the other bar. He has a youtube video up on the build: https://youtube.com/watch?v=5ENk6kPwdKc

To answer your questiom Yes the effect will still persist on your main DPS bar.For example if you run quick cloak a ability under the Duil wield Tree and switch too a 2hand weapon the affect of quick cloak will still be be a active effect on your sheet.Several players currently run Clever aAlchemist in conjection with Vicouis Death in this particular setup.
