I have another thread, and there are people posting about how they absolutely love the new DLC. They seem to think it's amazing. I literally cannot wrap my mind around this. It's like the first time I heard of Schrodinger's Cat.

So I just want to know, who these people are. I mean seriously, My curiosity has peaked and this issue. So if you absolutely loved the DLC tell me a little about yourself:

1. How long have you been playing ESO?
2. About how many hours a week do you play ESO?
3. What is your class?
4. What is your age?
5. What do you enjoy about the Thieves Guild?
6. What do you think is the BEST feature of the Thieves Guild?
7. How long have you been gaming?
8. What other games do you play?
9. Anything else you would like to include?

I really do have a scientific curiosity about this subject because I literally can't wrap my mind around how someone could love this DLC.

I'm not going to take the time to fill out some "form" but I will say I like TG because:

    - It gives me a new skill line to learn
    - Fun and engaging storyline
    - It gives me a reason to journey to many places I have not gone to since hitting V11
    - Gives me a reason to KEEP playing Wrothgar and a new reason to return to IC (as a full crafter I gotta collect ALL the motifs)

IMHO its the last 2 things that are most important because there is a huge amount of old content out there and they found a way to re-purpose it in a unique way.

    1. How long have you been playing ESO?
-> A year and eight months.

    2. About how many hours a week do you play ESO?
-> 30+ usually, more during the holidays.

    3. What is your class?
-> My main character is a nord Dragonknight

    4. What is your age?
    -> Mid-twenties.

    5. What do you enjoy about the Thieves Guild?
-> I really enjoyed the story. I love doing the heists. I like that the quests from the tip board send me all over Tamriel to collect random oddities from NPCs' houses and pockets; I've built quite a collection of fun items I can casually bring up in conversations.

    6. What do you think is the BEST feature of the Thieves Guild?
-> Walks-Softly. I would marry this argonian in an instant.

    7. How long have you been gaming?
    -> About 6 years.

    8. What other games do you play?
    -> None currently.

    9. Anything else you would like to include?
-> Here. You should always carry this with you for good luck:

I've never seen a more condescending post. "I can't imagine people disagreeing with me!"

    I'll humor it.

    1. How long have you been playing ESO? Since the beta weekends the November before launch, with the monkey pet to prove it. Playing almost non-stop since the first day of early launch, with the tiger mount and loyalty rewards to prove it.

    2. About how many hours a week do you play ESO? I'm a no-life, privileged scrublord college kid with too much free time, so more than a few hours a day with just about every day having at least a couple log-ons for daily stuff.

    3. What is your class? I play all classes, but so far for TG I went through on my mag-NB.

    4. What is your age? This isn't even relevant to videogame tastes. I've seen 40-year-olds who love modern games and teenagers who love retro games. For the sake of humoring you, I'll say I'm old enough I could have played Morrowind when it first came out if I'd had the interest in TES at the time.

    5. What do you enjoy about the Thieves Guild? I loved the characters more than anything else, my favorites being Walks-Softly and Velsa. The new zone is absolutely gorgeous when it decides to run at stable framerates and the city of Abah's Landing itself is just so much better than any other city portrayed in-game thus far. The verticality of it is something I want to see in future DLC's. The world bosses are also rather fun when you're not just grinding them for the outlaw motif pages. They're just the right balance between the base game world bosses and the Wrothgar world bosses to the point that I managed to duo one while on my mag-NB with another random mag-NB. It was a hard fight but we managed it and it felt awesome even without getting an outlaw page. EDIT: Also, the Maw of Lorkhaj is how all trials should be. Not too difficult set to regular for those who want to experience the trial and story, learn the mechanics, and get some dyes but very challenging on vet mode for those who want to min-max, get the phat lootz, and actually give the leaderboard more than two seconds of thought.

    6. What do you think is the BEST feature of the Thieves Guild? The characters, plain and simple. Zeira was 'meh' but all the other main characters and supporting characters were fun, lively, and charming. Velsa became one of my favorites, along with Walks-Softly. But Silver-Claws and Quen were rather enjoyable as well. I enjoyed the fact that they all had their own unique motives and squabbles with each other. I loved the fact that the 'good guys' (Iron Wheel) weren't necessarily all goody-two-shoes and the thieves weren't all a bunch of murderous no-good ***. The characters were all bathed in shades of gray.

    7. How long have you been gaming? As long as I can remember, and I remember playing before and after classes in kindergarten, maybe even pre-school (kind of fuzzy on the exact school year, but I can't remember a time when I didn't hold a controller or mouse in my hand at least once a day). Most of them happened to be from 3DO's library at the time (for those who remember when 3DO were a thing).

    8. What other games do you play? Well before ESO I played quite a few different genres regularly, though now most of my gaming is gobbled up by ESO and Company of Heroes 2. Before ESO, however, I played quite a few. Strategy like Company of Heroes, Total War, World in Conflict, Command and Conquer. Shooters like Wolfenstein, Max Payne, Far Cry, Battlefield, Borderlands, and even the dreaded Call of Duty (gasp!). Grand Theft Auto was always a favorite of mine from GTA III onwards. Third person shooters as well have been something I've enjoyed in the past. Gears of War, GRAW 2, Army of Two etc. Then, of course, we have Fallout and Elder Scrolls. I quite enjoyed Dishonored as well while we're on the topic of Bethesda-related games. Oh, Mass Effect is a favorite as well! Not as into Dragon Age though. Started Origins but I came late to the party on that one and ESO kept me from ever getting far, let alone finishing. Some odd bits and bobs would be games like Left 4 Dead, Red Faction, the Metro games, Burnout Paradise (not normally a racing game fan, but that one was fun), and yes even the Sims years ago.

    9. Anything else you would like to include? When I say that I really enjoy the DLC, or even 'love it,' that doesn't mean it's a straight 10/10 perfect for me. It just means that I'm satisfied with what I got out of it and tended to enjoy it more often than dislike it. Some minor gripes I've had with it are the poor framerate at launch (but honestly, that comes with every update for ESO... unfortunately), the required repeatable quests to 'unlock' the main quests and side quests, and the horrible heists (seriously, those things really need to be reworked - going in as a group hinders you more than it helps!). Just remember that there's a crazy notion in the world known as 'subjective topics' and 'people who disagree with you.' And also remember there are 9 whole numbers between 0 and 10, not counting 0 and 10 themselves. Something can be great without being perfect.

People like different things and that is not so hard to accept, is it?

    1. How long have you been playing ESO?
Since my pre-order went active. So everything but beta.
    2. About how many hours a week do you play ESO?
    25 more or less
    3. What is your class?
Ran 2 of each into veteran before dropping both DK and running third NB and TEMPs.
    4. What is your age?
    50+
    5. What do you enjoy about the Thieves Guild?
Story, look and feel, more aggressive trap challenges and more PVE content.
    6. What do you think is the BEST feature of the Thieves Guild?
    Quen.
    7. How long have you been gaming?
    Since 1980.
    8. What other games do you play?
    Halo 4, MnM, Go currently.
    9. Anything else you would like to include
Yes. I think also included should have been two things if you want an assessment.

Are you primarily PVE or PVE?
    PVE

What didn't you like most abt TG if anything?
More use of the guard mechanism into quests. It's not one of my favorite ESO aspects. I recognize it fits the theme but I had hoped it would be more standard NPC not the guards.

So, quick q to the OP, have you posted your answers or same questions to those railing against TG? If it shows anything relevant, shouldn't it show both demographics?

    1. How long have you been playing ESO?
    Since beta
    2. About how many hours a week do you play ESO?
    I'm unemployed so...too many
    3. What is your class?
    Main is a Dragonknight
    4. What is your age?
    20's
    5. What do you enjoy about the Thieves Guild?
I enjoy the story of it. I like the NPC's personal journeys, the nitty gritty of the relationships they all have with the city and each other. And of course I love the vet 15 resource nodes!
    6. What do you think is the BEST feature of the Thieves Guild?
The added story. I got into the game because it is set in the Elder Scrolls universe, and the game has not disappointed me. I eagerly awaited the Thieves Guild and (to me) it was a hit.
    7. How long have you been gaming?
About 9 years, give or take a few before I was actually old enough to fully understand 'gaming'
    8. What other games do you play?
Up until recently, Skyrim. But that got all laggy and bugged, so nothing.
    9. Anything else you would like to include?
I hope Zenimax continues their good work and gives the ES community more exciting story, zones, and gameplay into the future.

Gosh, I just don't know. I mean the whole thing has been a lag fest, wrapped in load screens, smothered in bugs, and baked till it crashes. Maybe if things had gone more smoothly for me, I'd be for it.

    Alright, I'll bite.

    1. How long have you been playing ESO?
    Since beta.

    2. About how many hours a week do you play ESO?
I'm unemployed, so that should give you some indication.

    3. What is your class?
I play different variations of all classes, with sixteen characters across both servers, my favourite being Templar, but I suppose my "main" is a stam-sorc.

    4. What is your age?
    23.

    5. What do you enjoy about the Thieves Guild?
The characters, the story, the exploration. The fact that there's now an actual reason to steal stuff.

The first thing I noticed was that the map of Hew's Bane is far smaller than most zones, but it does actually feel bigger than it is. Probably because you can't jump and climb on things like you can in previous zones, which is a shame because I do like to see how far I can climb up a mountain or whatever.

    Also the costumes.

    6. What do you think is the BEST feature of the Thieves Guild?
    The characters.

    7. How long have you been gaming?
Since I was a little kid.

    8. What other games do you play?
Aside from ESO? Skyrim, Oblivion, various indie games I've got as freebies and thought "eh they were free, I may as well", I used to play Dragon Age until Inquisition diligently ruined it. Dragon's Dogma, Mass Effect, Realm of the Mad God, Saints Row, The Witcher, Bioshock, Borderlands, Mount and Blade, SWTOR... the list is endless.

    9. Anything else you would like to include?
I'd recommend putting a "things you dislike about the DLC" for completeness' sake, but I don't think this is intended to be a proper case study.

With that said, I don't like the fact the tip board quests have very little variety; sure there are some pickpocketing ones, some to loot safeboxes, and some to give laundered items to a noble... But after getting the achievement for completing 30 tip board quests, I'd only encountered the latter one twice, and wasn't even aware it was one of the options until about the fifteenth one I picked up.

I also dislike that the world bosses are intended for large groups, but that's more down to the fact that I prefer to play solo, or with a friend or two if pressed, but I'm one of those friendless forever alone types whose friends are never online.

I also dislike the heist missions. Well, perhaps that's inaccurate. I like the heist missions, I dislike that they're timed, because I always figured the point of stealth is to be slow and methodical. Adding a literal ticking clock element to it removes the fun for me.

It's also laggy as hell, but that's such a well-known issue at this point, it's barely worth mentioning.

TL;DR I didn't love the DLC; it was good. That's about it.
