No buff/de buff display?

Looked through all the options on PS4 but saw nothing. How am I suppose to know when to reapply a dot or not clip the last ticks that hits the hardest and reapply my own? Seems rather silly that this wouldn't be in the game.

Every buff/debuff has a unique visual effect in your character or in your enemies, in that way you can watch more the game instead of numbers.
    Play for fun!

All the buffs/debuffs are listed in the character sheet though - like ESO+, mundus stone, food.

    It is silly.

Damage numbers are coming this week so that's 1 thing.

Hopefully buff trackers will follow soon

It does make it tougher for us on console than our PC counterparts. I personally have difficulty on my sorcerer knowing when hardened ward is down and harness magic is still up as the health bar still shows a ward is up. I know hardened adds a small glow in the middle of my character and harness shows a thin lightning ish effect but these are very hard to see in a busy battle. PC add ons I see normally have buff boxes with timers next to them, easy to see a buff dropped as box is gone.

That and such add-ons keep as well track of other conditions, like when the health of the enemy is down enough to execute - it says "execute now" then or it tells you when to dodge, block and cleanse - such add-ons are very helpful to learn combat.

Must admit I think those telling you when to block, dodge, execute etc are a bit much, more like following instructions than playing but a simple clear indication of buffs would be nice.

I really wish we on console had buff trackers. It would help a lot, and it is asinine that the devs didn't do simple programming for us.

Love that dmg numbers are coming, tho time will tell if they cut corners or if we have a usable product.

It would also be great if we had an FTC style dmg report, ultimate counter, and a whole bunch of the other basic UI mods that the PC community basically had to create for themselves.

I wont use sct but would of used a buff/debuff timer but i guess it takes more skill to master the timings myself.

The visuals are not adequate to maintain buffs in any genuinely hard content, especially in PVP where animations can disappear altogether, and the audio ques only marginally improve this. It would be very easy to have a UI toggle to show character buffs (shown already on the character screen). The combat text i think is an experiment that may lead onto more helpful UI options if it is successful, but by what margin this success is measured i do not know.
The console version was envisioned as being an immersive experience, without over complex scrolling texts every where, nor text chat which are supposedly hard to see on a television. ZOS probably expected console scum to have the Scart connector version of the Ps4 connected to their 1980's cathode raytube telvisions.

Unfortunately on this point, ZOS got it wrong. Options are required to appease if content is going to be so difficult that min/maxing is necessary. It simply doesnt work when content is made equally hard for all platforms, yet some are handicapped by design decisions. its also slightly hypocritical, to claim immersion and streamline simplicity when i cant remove the compass bar from the top of the screen to really enjoy the scenery i cant get the full "immersion".
TL;DR no buff/debuff active display at present, but with hopes for it in the future if the combat text on consoles goes well.

The visual on character didn't work on release, it was mentioned several times during beta that it didn't work and we said countless times that we needed a buff display. And yet 2 years into the game's life, we still have to rely on addons to track buffs.

As a sorcerer, I can't visually see what's going on when things are flying around me, and I have to dodge things to survive. The visuals are some glowing hands to tell me the crystal fragment proc is up, for an instant cast of crystal fragment. However, 95% of the time, I can't see this because my character is waving around their arms in casting of other abilities, as well as visuals flying around from healing and/or other buffs. So many times, I miss the crystal fragment proc, and other times I think it has procced but it hasn't so I end up with a cast time instead. It's the exact same thing that we've said ever since Beta, and I think it's about time they start listening to what we're saying. It just doesn't work.

Because people just love to open their character window in the middle of a fight to check their buffs. Can see you've never been in a fight in this game.

While in theory this sounds great ( moar imershun) it is not efficient to keep track of glowy hands and whatnot when you are in the heat of battle when need it the most

Especially in trials where you have 12 people all hitting 1 guy, multiple tanks using multiple taunts. I'd love to see the PUG % clearance rate for the trials
