Best traits for Cyrodiil

I'm curious as to which armor traits are best for Cyrodiil. A lot of builds go divines, but what about impenetrable or infused? Advice?

Impenetrable on everything, unless you're a sorc and very confident in your shields, in that case go full divines.

I guess it depends on your playstyle really:

At V16 Legendary, if you're running 7 Impenetrable then you'll be mitigating 1750 damage on a crit whilst sacrificing resources and/or damage of your own.

If you're a damage taking tank then Impenetrable has the most advantage - as in each fight - you'll be subject to a lot more hits which increases your chances of being hit with a crit. Is running 1750 of damage mitigation on 50-60% of hits of more benefit than increasing your health/armour by 671 or 5% healing taken? I would say yes but I don't know and I'm not currently interested on Googling the theory.

However, if you're a general damage dealer or healer, I question the importance of any Impenetrable.

With resistance of 8k-15k, and health of ~20k you'll be killed in 4-6 hits @ 6k damage each hit. As a result, I don't think there's much benefit of mitigating 1750 damage on ~50-60% of the hits. Following on from that, I see even less of a benefit running 2 or 3 Impenetrable for 500-750 damage mitigation.

If you get ganked then you'll be suffering from a guaranteed crit on the opening attack, but providing the ganker is okay, you'll likely die regardless of Impenetrable or not.

If you're a ganker yourself then I don't see how there's any advantage of running Impenetrable over any Divines and/or Infused on the large pieces because most of the time you'll suffer from 1, maybe 2 hits before you kill them.

Personally, I see more benefit of adding a shield (something like Immovable) on your utility bar to boost your resistance by 5k.

In saying all of that, I haven't done the maths nor have I tried running any Impenetrable. Some PvP builds have them: whilst others don't and they could just not be including them to boost the stats of the build making them more attractive on face value but less effective in practice.

This is just wrong. The number gets transfered to a percentage value (similar to how it's done with armour and spell resistance). I don't know the exact number by hard, but 7 piece legendary impen are about 25% reduced crit damage.

Asayre commented in the below post and it seems that an Impenetrable piece reduces the base crit multiplier of 1.5 by 3.5% each, so 7 pieces = 25%. However the enemy's base crit multiplier and your crit resistance can be increased through CPs.

Even so, as it only reduces the damage of the crit portion and assuming base values on a 6k hit is 1250 and 8k is 2000, I still stand by my points

Crown had a table for this.#

Each gold impen armour piece reduces crit dmg by 3.7%,

So do the maths and see what you comforable with when combined with the resistant cp.

I usually have at least 15% resistant and around 4/5 impen on.

I infuse my big pieces because i like the extra dmg. So i have 4 impen on my magicka nb, could have 5 if i want to s+b.

Sure, I've been 1 shotted. It does happen, but not that much. I played in Scourge for about 4 hours last night and died about 10 to 15 times. I finished 2 kill 20 quests (DKs and NBs) so I had at least 40 kills, but it was probably closer to 70. As of last night I had 3100+ career PVP kills in VERY limited play time (maybe 10 hours a week in PVP). I even had my first career Emperor kill last night.

Here is my set up: Templar 7/7 light 7/7 infused gold. All Magicka and spell power enchants. Destro and Resto staves.

I have a ton of points into reducing spell damage. A WB spammer is my worst nightmare.

Destro Bar: Breath of Life, Radiant Oppression, Reflective Light, Inner Light, Structured Entropy, Ice Comet

Resto Bar: BoL, Charging Manuevers, Mist Form, IL, SE, Revitalizing (?) Bat Swarm

It's all situational in Cyrodiil. If you get me in a 1 on 1 situation I'm gonna have trouble, but the bigger the fight the better I am. The reasons why you won't one shot me are as follows ...

    A) 17.9% magic reduction from CP
    B) If I hear something coming, like a meteor, I hit mist form and reduce 75% of the damage.
    C) Between mist form and invisibilty potions it's very hard to see me. Charging Manuevers and a 60 speed horse let me get out of dodge quickly.
    D) I jump around a lot and rarely put myself into bad positions like being the first guy into a keep.

Here is how you one shot me ...

    A) Find me looking at my inventory
    B) Sneak up on the super fast invisible guy and spam a physical attack. If you can 1 shot me good on you. If you only get me to 1% you're gonna have to hit me a bunch more because I've just started the BoL into mist form mini game.

All I'm saying is that with some creativity I basically turned my Magicka Templar into a quasi NB and Sorc hybrid. It looks ugly on a spread sheet, with my recoveries being like 950M, 150H, and 500S but the staves cover for that.

Lots of ways to skin a cat in PVP. Just gotta get wacky.

7/7 light with no Impen means you are literally paper, You'll die to like 2-3 Wb's or Sa or even 2 snipes.

Yes, I'm that guy. And I slot Inner Light only for the 5% extra magic, the crit bonus doesn't matter because, as you said, I get that from reflective light. As for why I use RL, if it's 1 on 1 yes, bad idea. It hits for between 4000 and 8000 (if empowered or crit, 7100 is normal) which isn't bad but not great either. However, I can fight 3 players at once and do equal damage to all of them. The fireballs also curve around objects which is great in keep sieges. I can also shoot it more than once a second and then there is the dot. I can hit 3 people with 20 k damage in under 2 seconds fairly easily. Follow that up with a RO and bam, insta melt.

On a positive note after yesterday's patch my character is RIDICULOUSLY powerful. My tooltip damage for RO is over 14k now, while it was 9k two days ago.

This set up absolutely works and works well. If your main complaint is that I'm a coward for staying 30 yards away from the fight, well you got me I guess. It is what it is.

Oh, and I wanted to add, I've been killed by an archer once in a month. Sure I could be killed by that guy, but if I get hit by an arrow I simply BoL and I'm good. It happens every day.

Double slotting BoL is VITAL to survival in Cyrodiil. If you save even 1/10th of a second it's worth it.
