Degeneration and pets

On one of my build with the new update I am using the Sorcerer's Familiar for the proc damage that also has a chance to trigger crystal frags. I usually work skills up on a rotational basis. I just slotted degeneration and noticed that the pets melee attacks seem to be getting the heals to fire for that skill. Has anyone else noticed this?
