Is the launcher/patcher still 32bit?

Yes, the only way too launch 64bit is open eso64.exe from the install directory. The launcher always opens 32bit.

I never use the Launcher other than Patch day.

You can use the 64 Bit client by directly launching the 64 bit EXE in the game folder.

However, I will say there are some annoying sound issues with the 64 bit client (it may not be universal, but it is common) so you may not want to use it yet.
Enjoy the game, life is what you really want to be worried about.

The addon folder should be the same as with the 64 bit client, nothing of that changes using the 64 bit client, so if you have addons installed working in the 32 bit client, they'll work on the 64 bit client

Yes, it supports them just fine. No need to change anything other than checking for updates on occasion. Which you should do every day you play for a about a week after any patch. But, it even runs my old out of date addons.

It uses the same addon folder as the 32 bit client. At least that's my assumption, as I had all of my addons when I was using the 64 bit client last week (until I had to stop using it because the sound issues were really messing with me - despite the fact that the actual performance in FPS is vastly better for me on the 64 bit client).

Thanks for the replies. I am using the 64 bit launcher none of my add ons are there, it defaults to original out of box set up. When I switch over to the 32 bit launcher, all my add ons are there and working. Any ideas?

I don't really notice a performance improvement. Is it because I was already running as best as it could of run? Intel i5 6500, gtx 960, 8gb ram, win 7 64bit.

Anybody else have the 64-bit client revert your screen to 800x600 resolution upon loading, even though the game still lists the setting at 1920x1080? I can fix it easily enough by switching to windowed, then back to fullscreen, but it's strange to have to do this every time.

I did not know there was a 64 Bit Launcher, I use a shortcut to the EXE from my Desktop.

I did not even look TBH at the Addon list before selecting my character and loading them up.

Don't think there is a 64bit launcher. Just the exe file that bypasses the patcher.

Check the "allow outdated add-ons" box in the add-on section.

    Just a thought/idea,

I have the impression that just because the 64bit .exe file for eso may function, it may not be genuinely 64bit. What i mean to say is it potentially may not benefit to the full extent regarding the capabilities of 64bit, because 64bit is much more than just ram, address and dll improvements.

What i understand is in order for Windows to allow an application to truly function as a 64bit app, the application must be installed and ran in the "Program Files" folder (not "Program Files x86). In short, this is due to the .dll files that applications utilize. Windows created two "program file" folders for technical reasons. I.E. the .dll files in "program files(x86) are not as complex and intent for the use of operating 32bit applications. therefore these apps do not allow for more ram usage and observe the 32bit limit of just below 4gb. I have checked the ram usage of eso during gameplay and have not seen a notable difference in physical memory usage between eso.exe and eso64.exe. But were talking about my system here, so someone might have a more to say regarding their much much faster pc.

I know there are othere games that are 64bit apps. Some may be exclusively 64bit and will laugh at a 32bit OS. I would certainly (and want to) believe there must be some benefits (unknown to me) towards using the 64bit .exe file in "Program Files (x86). However...

My plan is to reinstall eso in the Program Files (not x86) folder to discover whether or not there is a difference worthy of note, in the hopes i will see positive results. Although i do not have a high-end gaming rig, i think the 8gb my pc has can provide some noticeable improvement in game play (at least shorter load times, or a more consistent FPS average).

    -Just to clarify and satisfy any curiosity;
i have never seen ESO rise above 1.6gb in ram usage
have tested and pushed the limits of graphic card (integrated APU)
i do have 64bit OS and 64bit processor so as far as i know, im good to go.
no throttling issues, but i believe my setup could show a difference if eso wants to use the other + or - 6gb that's just sittn there, unemployed :(, bored as heck.

To any of the super-tech brain pans out there that know a hella lot more than i, if there's a reason this idea doesn't seem sensible, im very happy to learn why. All things aside, ima doin it anyway!! Just as soon as i stop playing, could be here awhile.

Hope this benefits me fellow gamers in some way. Thank you for reading

The install location should not matter eso keeps the 64bit files in the same folder. I don't install to program folders my games are located at C:\Game_Installs, and I never had an issue with the 64bit client.

This is inaccurate. Windows doesn't care from where the application is launched. If it's a 64-bit application, Windows will detect it as such.

Thank you!! wherever i read that it wasnt specific on applications. It just made note that one was for 64bit and the other (x86) or 32bit. I appreciate the fast response.

The settings file can get overwritten sometimes, so go back and check if it needs to be edited again

    1. Close the game and Launcher (IMPORTANT)
    2. Navigate to: Documents/Elder Scrolls Online/liveeu(or liveus)/UserSettings
    3. Open UserSetting.txt

    5. Search for line: SET SkipPregameVideos "0"

    Set "0" to "1"

    It should look like this:

    SET SkipPregameVideos "1"

You are set, you can Start launcher and enjoy fast start to logging menu without intro videos.
Enjoy the game, life is what you really want to be worried about.

    Hello everyone,

This post is to let you know that we've felt it necessary to put this thread down as it seemed to have died some time ago. At this time we'd like to try and keep Draugr threads from roaming around front page, pushing down newer and more lively threads.

    Thank you for understanding!
