Can you not cancel or override a research trait?

Can you not cancel or override a research trait with another trait on the same piece? Or am i stuck for a couple months for a research trait finish in order to get the research trait i want? There should be a cancel button so i am not sure if there is any way possible to do this. Horrible design if you cant cancel it and just lose out on the time already on that trait if you want to switch traits to research.

Not sure how I should break it to you... but you're stuck, yes. For months. XD
But the time goes by faster than you might think, a month sounds like a relatively long time, but you'll get there for sure. I know what I'm talking about, one of my characters has researched 9 traits (all items), the other 7 characters 8 traits (all items, except for 1 single piece which I still have to research)

Nah, theres no way to cancel or override them.
In the beginning I didnt research what I would end up mainly using so I created an Imperial alt to be a backup crafter to learn & craft my items until my main could research them too.


You could ask someone else at the crafting station if they know the trait you need on that particular item. I have been asked by people at stations to craft 1 piece to a full set before. If on EU PS4 I can help.


The equipment research passive allows 3 at once & caps the time to learn the 9th & final trait to 30 days, 27 days if you have eso+. Months comment made me lol

Thanks everybody for the replies, guess i screwed up, I think ZOS needs to have a cancel button for it. Its still cost you time and lose a research trait so there still is a cost to making the decisions especially later like mind being the 8th trait lol.

WHy are you stuck for "couple of months?" If you have points in the research skill I don't think it goes past 28 days then.

I know somebody who is stuck with like 2 months+ on a trait LOL

if you have the research time passive I think if you respect that maxxed passive it will cancel the last 2 items you research and the items will disappear

Use all the passives and split the load between two alts till you can cover it all on one. Start with traits like training, divines, infused, precise, nirnhoned, reinforced then save the least useful for later finishing with charged, powered, well-fitted and sturdy. Pick and choose the weapons/armor pieces you use the most as well.

No, they don't disappear, the research time just will go up again. When you put back the skillpoints, it's reduced again.
