Anyone else digging this strat?

Just plop down camps friggen everywhere in an open field fight and get down?

If theres one good thing to come out of this patch, its this new little mini-meta. Prolongs open field fights quite nicely (though the DC blob on haderus seems to be a bit more adept with the strat than id personally like, gotta kill em all three/four times instead of just twice)

    Personally think burning the camp should not be interrupted by dmg only by bash/interrupt abilities.

    It's made it super nice for small-scale at the moment. We can set a camp down somewhere, and we've cut off a lot of the travel time if any of us die. It's made the actual time we're playing the game significantly rise vs. riding our horses.

    I play more lazily knowing that there are forward camps. There is practically no penalty to dying now. We defended roe against 2 raids of yellows last night and after wiping them 3 times eventually we got hit when not enough ults were up and ended up losing the keep.

    We would have needed to keep someone in stealth away from the fight the entire time to reliably put down a camp, and I think that's just moronic. Because we actually had our guys fighting, by the time myself and the one other person that was still alive were able to put down a camp, yellows were able to flip flags and get the outer up. No way 1 raid is sieging down a wall with 2 raids defending in this meta, so keep is lost.

    I've never been a fan of forward camps, and while it's a tactic to send someone away during fights to make sure you can put down camps, I find that to be the ultimate cheese. The biggest drawback is what happened 2 days ago on TF where almost the entire population of 2 alliances ended up at a single keep, twice, and lag goes to crap. Forward camps enabled and continued that.

    So no Rylana, even though the never ending open field fights can be fun when pugging out, ultimately the game can't handle the numbers in fights that forward camps end up promoting, and I don't find them healthy for objective play. I know some love them, but I've always felt death had too low of a penalty in this game - if you die, you should have a penalty, whether that's you running back, or having a friend take a risk to come rez you.

    With return of the camps and the increase in AP gains, maybe it's time to end the Age of D-tick. Instead of AP, send one RotW mail to everyone who earned player kill AP during the defense.

    Sounds incredibly easy to exploit, by false flag attacks using an ally from another faction.

    How would you put a threshold on when a mail is sent?

      Same as former AP award, mail is awarded after 1:30 min no deaths on either side. Give it a threshold, e.g. 10 enemy player kills, otherwise no mail is sent. This is an idea (not necessarily a good one) to stop AP boosting.

      It's also an attempt to motivate doing actual pvp. You can get the pvp skills quickly, but for that you need to partake in it.

      Yeah, I know, not the point of this discussion, but camps have resulted in the return of the 35k D-tick, even if you're running in zerg.

      It's been amazing for medium scale three way open field fights, but keep fights are a little crazy with the return of camps.

      I enjoyed the old forward camps more, they were more like... im dead... oh look there is a forward camp, lets check out whats going on there.


      Now you just stay at the big battle but ok. I see many reasons for that but also for the old forward camps.

      I like that I can just sit down and play for 30m and instantly fight.

      It promotes poor strategic play, though, that is for sure.

      The non CP campaign is really growing on me, also. I remember absolutely hating the concept of CPs when they were introduced.
