Maintenance for the week of January 12:
• PC/Mac: No maintenance – January 12
• ESO Store and Account System for maintenance – January 13, 9:00AM EST (14:00 UTC) - 12:00PM EST (17:00 UTC)
Ummm..... I don't think that this will work so well after the next patch maintenance in which eso.exe is modified. If the updating feature in Launcher cannot find eso.exe then it might abort. Regardless, it will download and install an updated eso.exe file.
We would be better off to install the 64-bit client and its associated files in a separate directory tree, which is what Microsoft recommended for Windows 7 (whether subsequently). The root directory tree contains:
C:\Program Files for 64-bit software
and C:\Program Files (x86) for 32-bit software
Since ESO began as 32-bit software for the PC it was installed in C:\Program Files (x86) but now that the 64-bit client has been introduced, it should be installed in C:\Program Files. The 32-bit and 64-bit files should be separated properly to facilitate error-free updating, upgrading and archiving.
But Bethesda and Z.O. are all about whatever is expedient and time-saving for them, regardless of the potential consequences of their short sighted quick-and-dirty-programming practices for their customers, the players.

I gues I should have put a YMMV in, but that went against the intended terseness in the original post. As in: if the reader experiences discomfort, the post is not appropiate.
