ZOS already stated the reason they're not giving us a free respec this time is because of console players who complained that they didn't know how to put all their points back to where they were the last time ZOS did a free respec. Like literally, that is the reason.

Yup. But could be worse:

- all skills now bugged/glitchy. Pay 400 crowns each skill for responsive shiny looking abilities! (Templars pay 1500 crowns for toppling charge cause reasons).
- end trial locked at 500 crowns per entry. On death your rez costs 5 crowns.
- persaide and intimidate now a crown store option. Pay 400 crowns to speed up certain quests!

All fiction, I promise....for now.

This is why I think people are just ignorant if they believe race-changes are a good idea. It actually gives them good cause to continually unbalance race passives, for what amounts to really lazy, borderline stupid levels of work by simply adjusting a couple digits. Players should never have to pay for developer screwups. I've got no problem with things like costumes because that is artwork. Facebook games and mobile games have ruined the industry though with their cash grab microtransaction funny money nonsense. I'm not saying that's what is going on here, but that's why I'd rather they erred on the side of caution in these matters.

How it this a money grab? The respect is done for gold in game, and I don't recall a crown store reset for CP.

The first time they did a skill update, this is what they did. They also ended up cutting the cost per point in half permanently and adding the morph only reset.

Then they went to force return of the affected skills only, or even total skill resets. I used to love these for the free chance to rework my characters.

Of course some people complained because they couldn't remember their build or didn't want to put stuff back, nevermind they may have completely broken that load out they were using before. People would leave and come back after two major updates and complain about running around not realizing they had no attributes, nevermind the math had changed and they'd have to relearn a build anyways.

Whatever, this is where we find ourselves now. A week of 1g respects hurts those who aren't here for the week after an update. Free respect scrolls would overstock dormant accounts and allow those who don't play alts to roll a bunch before an update for free bonus scrolls. Force resets were the only fair way to go, but looks like that isn't happening anymore.

So that's the cause of a patronizing notification telling me to spend my remaining 20% skill points...

At this rate they'll buff light/heavy attacks because people don't know how to use skills.
