By majority the opinion is that the PvE aspect of the game is too easy. How is asking, Zen, to make the game harder even viable when on a small scale, most players complain about not being able to do vMA?

Imagine the developers were testing the community by putting in what some have referred to as "elite" content? And all they have received in feedback are pleas to make it easier. And most people want the game to be harder? How hard is good enough for you individually?

A weak to casual player that typically die on the level of difficulty the game is now, already feels overwhelmed or challenged, and the truth is, those weaker players are probably a large percentage of the community.

You're probably thinking - just make the game harder and people can always group up. It's just more incentive to group up. Okay? Well like I asked before, how hard does the game have to be to be good enough and fair to everyone else? A group of weak players will still be overwhelmed and probably not even have the drive and perseverance to continue after a few deaths, which will be imminent for their builds. A group of casuals will still consider the new challenging difficulty to be formidable to probably near impossible. The hardcore players will consider the game difficulty to be just right, and the "elite" types - well, when is any challenge to hard for them? Elites are the perfectionists, the 100% trophy achievers - leave no stone unturned. They go in to a dungeon and attempt to three-man it. They're the ones that probably have a right to brag and get told to "Get a life".

Overall I believe that, Zen, has found a somewhat decent sweet spot when it comes to the challenge level of the open-world. At any time, if you the player are no longer enjoying godhood in the face of opposition ... well then, what does a god do when they're bored and need a challenge - get from behind your stats, armor, and become mortal. Otherwise enjoy what you've attained, help someone else get powerful, and when the game community as a whole start feeling like the game is too easy because there are less weak players - ZoS will increase the threat. They'll have to ...

I think the difficulty of the game is fine as it is, because I imagine that a new player that is still learning and has no champion points will already struggle to kill some bosses in some quests. I often see people asking for help to kill the bosses in the quest "The Veil Falls" in Auridon.

I do think that the nerf to Cadwell zones was excessive, though. Back when I was leveling my first veteran, when I logged in one of my alts I could really notice how much easier 1-50 zones were compared to Cadwell Silver zones. Now I don't really see a difference.

Maybe they could make new DLC zones as hard as Cadwell zones were back then, but then people wouldn't really be able to go to these zones at any level, and that could hurt the DLC sales I think.

In the end, the game won't ever have a level of difficulty that will please everybody. It isn't really possible. People have different skill as players, different ping (high ping can really hurt in vMA), different levels of mobility, and of course, there is the Champion Points difference.
Just so that everyone knows, my Altmer still can't have black hair. About a dozen of Altmer NPCs in the game have black hair. Just saying.

    Meet my characters:
    Spoiler
    Command: Do the thing.

Zadarri, Khajiit Fist of Thalmor: The thing was done, as commanded.
Durza gra-Maghul, Orc blacksmith: The thing was done perfectly, in the most efficient way.
Tegwen, Bosmer troublemaker: You can't prove I didn't do the thing.
Sings-Many-Songs, Argonian fisher: Sure, I'll do the thing... Eventually. Maybe.
Aerindel, Altmer stormcaller: After extensive research, I've come to the conclusion that doing the thing would be a waste of resources.
Liliel, Dunmer pyromancer: Aerindel said I shouldn't do the thing. Something about "resources".
Gyda Snowcaller, Nord cryomancer: I will find a way to do it that won't waste resources and make Aerindel proud of me.
Beatrice Leoriane, Breton vampire: I persuaded someone else into doing the thing. You are welcome, dear.
Sahima, Redguard performer: Doing the thing sounds awfully unpleasant and really not my problem.
Ellaria Valerius, Imperial priestess: I'll pray to the Eight for the thing to be done, if it is Their will.

They can't make any portion of the open-world zones too difficult because then those zones will be empty and players that do go there will complain that no one is there.

This 100%. I have quit the game, but occasionally play on my nephews account to help level him up a bit quicker. And with 0 cp's it is quite tough, especially as i was used to rolling a cp capped alt who face rolled everything. Only died once when i was in Grahtwood, to 3 thunderbug things in a dungeon, but i was shocked lol. I wouldn't attempt soloing a dolmen or world boss, whereas cp capped lowbie would face roll it.
