First order of business in a Raid was to remove them because lag.

We've done this a dozen times at least here already. Not happening.

you never see zergs in the rest of the game world no you don't one, 2 even 10 players with capes won't cause issues because if that is your argument in PvE people with pets out and mounts and summoned creatures in a group of 4 -10 should make your screen freeze. You a console player? That's the only reason you would make such a petty argument.

Are you really saying 10 hell even 20 "capes" will cause so much issues with fps that your frames will freeze?

That's a no on the cloaks. One thing I would like to see however, is the hooded robes from other TES games. The hooded robes in skyrim looked so nice. Really made you feel like a mage.
Obviously it would have to just cover up your helm and have your face showing, but I think it would be cool!

I said this in an older thread but i can repeat my self. I LOVE capes n cloaks. Modded them into every ES game!
That being said. They were MODDED in. They didnt really exist in the elder scrolls games. So no. ESO shoudnt have them either

I found the video with capes! Fast forward to 2:27 , 9:01 , and 9:07 to see them. Also, if you're a console player like me it's worth looking at 8:00 and beyond to see how large scale the PvP was supposed to be and without lag. Honestly kind of depressing to see how great it once was.

Notes:

- What is the skill used by the player character at 2:44? Is it an early Teleport Strike? Looks WAY cooler that Teleport Strike in the current game.

LotrO's game engine and entire system is now older than dirt yet we get amazing cloaks with nice stats along with thier animations, which are pretty decent -- though in raids we definitely will toggle them off for best results on fps. Had it been a priority here, the tech was definitely there to support it -- they just did not (and still don't) want to bother with adding in this feature as it is an entire other layer of itemization to contend with, on top of the rendering, which they just never wanted to tackle in the first place.
