Yet another clipping issue

I like to mix armor types. In particular, I'm not a fan of pointy, pokey shoulders on my characters. I've had to use Breton a lot but today I Finally got a drop of Ancient Orc shoulders.
Great! I thought.
I have a new alternative!
Went to make some medium armor and used regular Orc for the Jerkin and Ancient Orc shoulders.

Well, not so much :s the shoulders are partially buried in the jerkin.
C'mon ZOS, somebody kick the armor artists in the arse, will you?

Some styles like Orc and Redguard almost require use of the matching shoulders. I don't remember which Heavy Chest it is, but you can only use the matching shoulders or you have no coverage in the lower shoulder/upper chest area

Looking at your screenshots, I don't see too much of a clipping issue and I have to say that I might use these on some of my sets rather than the Imperial Light Shoulders I use on most of my gear sets (as I hate the tall pointy shoulders too)
Enjoy the game, life is what you really want to be worried about.

The silver squares should not be showing thru from the jerkin underneath. Those shoulders should be solid about halfway down the upper arm.

    OP,

Can you throw a SS of the shoulders on and chest off in your OP?

The problem here could be solved relatively easy, but on cost of some aesthetics. What they could do is lift the shoulders slightly upwards of the model, and move it a few inches to the side , as well as tilt it just slightly (around 10 degrees) outwards. The drawback is that you'll get a gap that's visible between the shoulder and the player model. This can be solved by having the shoulder items slightly larger, around 5%, so they "dip" further down. It will however look a little wonky when you're casting or the model is using the arms/shoulder joints during cast animations, so that's where the aesthetics come into play; form over functionality.

    Yes it clips bare-armed, too.

I have a serious clipping issue with the DC robe of the Phoenix and the epaulets of succession. The epaulets sink inside the robe at odd angles. It looks very strange

I have an issue when I have the bow equipped that causes a "mystical" arrow to appear and clip through my feet.

    Orc too big.

Can't remember the tech other games have used by our characters need to have a collision system in place so we wear the armor and it doesn't wear us.

Apparently clipping is no big deal to the designers. Feel my pain: http://forums.elderscrollsonline.com/en/discussion/243084/vr16-reward-costume-clipping-issues#latest
