Why does the camel spit?

I was excited for the camel, wanted to buy it, saved crowns, but when I saw it spit that green stuff ... Well I'm not gonna buy it anymore.
Whose idea was this I would like to have words.

Most likely it's because when most people think of camels they think of them spitting.

I'm guessing this is the idle jump emote for them, like the horses rearing and the bears/senche roaring.

Quick google search says that irl they don't spit often and that it is usually only as a defense mechanism. I respect the attention to detail but is seems kinda pointless.

I got totally spat on at the wedding event on the PTS.

I wish they would change this so it only randomly spits every 20 or times and they can have it just snort or something the rest of the time. It's pretty revolting really, especially if you have fur ...

I always used to assume that real life camels spit if they are annoyed, like if someone's getting too close in their face or something, they might spit hehe.

Well, I like the camel, but I do not intend to use that spitting - it's a very immature thing to have implemented this IMO, just made to annoy others - how serious is ZOS then in being against harrasment?-. Can't be that serious really.

It's more about harassment and abuse of the dromedary. Try throwing up a few times in a row and then going for a run.

People call it spit because most people can't even style scientific names correctly. It's vomit. You are forcing an animal to regurgitate on demand, which was apparently not an argument brought up at the development table.

It was probably more like, look at this YouTube vid and copy it but don't copy it exactly OMG CAMEL$ $OON
