I use the large radii of scattershot cattapults to hit 2 sections of wall at a time, doubling my seige dps. People laugh now but I am onto some next level sheet.

At one point I was going to suggest to a guildmaster that we administer the Wonderlic test to guildies before we decide whether or not to let them join, but I realize that's going a bit too far. Still...

In another guild I was in, we actually tried to implement some kind of intelligence test on our guildlaunch page. We proposed a PvP scenario and asked the player to write a short description of what they feel would be the best course of action. Kind of like You Are The Ref, if any of you are familiar with that.

I really enjoyed coming up with that, as an old tabletop RPG'er. The scenario I posited was something a long the lines of...

You are at Glademist mine. You have been chainsed by a DK away from your group of 8 while crown asks everyone to return to the resource flag. As he pulls you to the north, you see a group of 10-12 enemy players go into stealth behind the tower. You have full resources and the keep is unflagged. What do you do?

We tried to put such a question in the guild launch but the thing had a word limit and we couldn't add it to our application form.

I've always wanted to start threads with RP scenarios like this as a fun little thing for us to do while we're at work or school and browsing the forums but I am fairly certain I would get sued. Kind of fan-fictiony.

You should do it. These would be fun!

As for answering your scenario, since I am not crown of that group, I would call out the size of the enemy group, their location, and the fact that they are stealthed so that crown can make a group call. You can't have multiple people giving commands in a group that follows a crown because that causes confusion.

I found myself mentally answering this in too much depth: on voicecomm or not? Which toon am I on? A known group or randos? I realized I'm overthinking.

The only right answer is to type "LEEROY JENKINS" in chat and dive into the group spamming your strongest aoe.

Then Rez at the keep and whisper "hahahahahahaha" to whoever landed the kb on you.

I'm by no means so elite PVPer, but I have been doing it for a long while now. PVP long enough you'll see all the common offensive moves, defensive moves, patterns, etc etc. If you're in a campaign that shows the enemy has at least 2 bars worth of players, and the keep youre taking only has a resistance of 3-4 people, you're (most likely) about to be ambushed. If you see a group take a resource and as soon as opposition turns up, they run into the tower, they're trying to farm you.

Do you want to take a keep a bit easier? make it look like a "small group" is "just trying to flag it" by using just a battering ram, and everyone remain in stealth. The map will only show 1 siege, and if its not in the direct path of the main force, they may only send 3-4 people to scope it out. Bonus, if the full zerg appears you're dealing with a group of idiots.. shouldnt be too tough to take them out. The reverse can also be useful, if one person sets up 8-10 siege, it can draw the attention of the main zerg to give your smaller force more time. Flanking is an amazingly effective wipe. half the group engages the main force, while the other half comes in from literally any other direction. But the best advise I offer anyone is just remain calm. if you're not calm you're going to make a lot of mistakes and it's going to frustrate you.... it takes some practice, so I recommend going to the IC arena district and just keep getting into constant fights. It really helps you get used to the pressure of battle and give you a better idea of what your build may be lacking or what it excels at.

My power level is barely that of Raditz, how the hell do you expect me to have a good PvP IQ? I have been killed by templars that literally do nothing but spam spears (thought tbh I have found a way to deal with that. Ash cloud ftw)

Go easy on Templars, that is about the only skill that works on our bar

indeed. If spear spamming fails then they are helpless much of the time, and I understand why. I actually tried a templar at one point, and it was awful. If Templars did not have superior heals they would be utterly useless in both PvE and PvP.

I actually am dying to play a mana templar, but I will not do so unless the class is heavily improved. Anyone that can put up with the Templar in its awful state has my respect.

you assumed he was a stamblade. He could be playing a manabuild, which would have a MUCH harder time getting thru shields.Not every player that complains about shields mains a stambuild.
