As I sit back and observe the class balance war grow with every buff or nerf, I can't help but feel like (and correct me, if I'm wrong) everyone wants to be able to compete with everyone.
I kind of saw Cyrodiil as a fast-paced Chess game. Each Chess piece, if used correctly, is able to bring you further to victory. But you cannot win with one Chess piece, alone.
Bare with me here, but take Pokemon, for example.
If someone summons a Water-type Pokemon, but you only have a Fire-type Pokemon, would it be smart to battle? Not really. But if I got a friend (or ally) with a Lightning-type Pokemon to help me out, the Water-type Pokemon would either lose or have to flee.

If feel that there should be builds that are difficult for your build to counter. At the same time, I feel that there should be builds that your build will be more effective against. That's the beauty of it - it adds strategy to this Alliance War. Isn't that the most important aspect of a War? The strategy? If you go into a war with no plan, no strategy, guess what? You probably will not survive. Am I able to take this guy on? Or should partner up with someone who has a build that will be more effective and I could play a more supportive role during this encounter? Or maybe I should just keep my distance because my build is not able to be effective against this build.
Balance, in my eyes, is where EVERY BUILD has an advantage over some builds AND a disadvantage over other builds.
It seems like the more "balanced" ESO becomes, the more ESO goes from Chess to Checkers.
