Spell Damage Inconsistencies PC vs PS4

I'm seeing a bit of an inconsistency between spell damage numbers when comparing a PS4 build to my PC build.

In this video https://youtube.com/watch?v=quwTRljgqz8, the PS4 build is using the following sets:
3x Arch (+127 spell dmg)
4x Magnus (+129 spell dmg)
2x Torug (+129 spell dmg)
3x Willpower (+708 spell dmg - 186 base with 3x spell dmg enchants 174x3)
Duel wield bar with 2 swords. Everything upgraded to legendary except jewelry of course.
All things taken into account, this build has 3260 spell damage according the the character sheet.
The above equipment totals for 1093 spell dmg and I'm basing calculations on that.


On my PC build I run the following:
3x Arch (+127 spell dmg)
5x Julianos (+299 spell dmg)
1x Kena (+129 spell dmg)
3x Willpower (+708 spell dmg - 186 base with 3x spell dmg enchants 174x3)
Duel wield bar with 2 swords. Everything upgraded to legendary except jewelry of course.
All things taken into account, this build has 3039 spell damage.

The above equipment totals for 1263. This is 170 more than the PS4 build yet my character screen shows 221 LESS spell dmg.


Neither character are buffed.

Perhaps my calculations are off or there is something I'm missing. If so, please point it out.

Well this doesn't surprise me because last night I was testing my Puncturing Sweeps' tool tip damage by taking off a ring, losing 189 spell damage and my spell damage on my character stats didn't change, whatsoever, including sweeps' base damage.

I double-checked, still didn't change. Also, I once equipped Molag Kena helm and my spell damage shot up to 5k+ and it even changed the damage values on all my magicka abilities but of course it was a bug, not sure if it would have actually done that kind of damage because it only lasted for a min or so.

I don't like inconsistencies. I'm 391 spell dmg less competitive in PVP than I should be.

Most passives do not affect spell dmg as far as I'm aware. Not without a specific buff like kena proc, might of the guild proc etc. Mundas does not affect spell dmg. If you're referring to the duel wield passive, I have it. As well as every other possible passive.

It might be an ui error, cause more then one spelldmg or weapon dmg bonuses on armor will only show as 1 in the UI, the UI is bugged or stupid and things its still just 1. Dmg goes up tho if hitting a mob.

I'm not so sure. I've always felt like I wasn't hitting quite as hard as I should be. I hope you're right thought but some official feedback on this would be great.

Total unbuffed+no sorc skills: 2695 spell dmg
Tooltip: 3260 spell dmg

3260/2695=1.21 factor (looks like major sorcery buff because its roughly 20% increased)


Your PC setup:

5x Julianos (+299 spell dmg)

3x Willpower (+708 spell dmg - 186 base with 3x spell dmg enchants 174x3)

Tooltip: 3039 spell dmg

3039/2865=1.06 factor (looks like you slotted 3 sorc skills without major sorcery buff)


Other possibility is that the tooltip didnt update instantly when you switched from staff to DW bar.

Thanks for this breakdown. You may be right in terms of major sorcery. If I apply the buff on my PC build my spell dmg goes up to 3612. Must have been a mess up somewhere.

Sorcs get spell damage for sorcerer abilities on the bar. This could be it. Are your abilities the same?
