NPC damage at vr8, is this a bug or normal?

As I'm going through Rivenspire, I'm over leveled a bit having done Wrothgar. So imagine my surprise when I get (almost) one shot by an npc. It was an elite add that was part of a world boss that had a thrown dagger hit for over 19k. Ummm, is that normal? I put on a shield, something I never do for solo questing, including the vast majority of group bosses, and took them down. But really? 19,778 damage from a thrown dagger?

I doubt it's a bug. Some group bosses do deal quite a bit of damage.

Those throwing daggers hurt like hell from any NPC. From a world boss I imagine that would be magnified tenfold.

Seeing that Throw Dagger is an interruptable skill, it is very likely that it is intended. Many skills with interrupts available are designed to punish players who don't follow the mechanic. There's actually only one skill in the game that's bashable that you shouldn't, and it's in VMA...

Too many variables to answer this. If your gear was completely degraded, it would have hit like you were naked. Without knowing what you were wearing or its condition, no one can answer.

Is it three of them in a tower? One being a skeleton?

If so, imagine being like level 20 something with little skills and passives. These guys have rekt all 8 of my toons at least once.

My gear was good, I habitually repair when I vendor so it rarely gets even halfway trashed. At v13, v8 npcs don't hurt much, even in public dungeons unless I'm not paying attention and get swamped. Yep, the three in a tower, with a skeleton, an elite and a idk, fancy elite.

Ok, sounds like it's wai, especially being interruptible. I just missed the tell on the dagger throw I guess. Wow that would have been a one shot and a half if I had been on level! Thanks for the replies guys!
