Champion Point Distinctions

deleted220103-006055
For Champion Points, under Ritual we have:

1a. Piercing - Increases the amount of Armor your physical attacks ignore
1b. Precise Strikes - Increases damage and healing dealt by Weapon Criticals

And under Apprentice:

2a. Spell Erosion - Increases Spell Penetration
2b. Elfborn - Increases damage and healing dealt by Spell Criticals

1a and 2a, 1b and 2b are complements, but the meaning of "spell" is different for each pair.

1a concerns Physical attacks that ignore Physical Resistance. 2a concerns Flame, Frost, Shock, Poison, Disease, and Magic attacks that ignore Spell Resistance.

1b concerns any ability that takes Stamina to cast. 2b concerns any ability that takes Magicka to cast.

Am I correct? I kind of wish they'd sort out their terms.

Not quite, it depends on the damage that causes not what pool it draws resources from. Poison, Disease and Physical damage are affected by 1a and 1b but Magic, Shock, Fire and Frost damage are affected by 2a and 2b.

Hope this was of any help :)

My opinions and posts are mostly on a PvE setting.

No. Killers blade costs stamina but does magic damage. Burning breath costs stamina but does fire damage. You have to look at the tooltip

Yes, so it seems that Burning Breath falls under 1b (Weapon + Stamina) yet 2a (Flame damage).

Ahh this makes more sense now. I would still not reccommend using elfborn as a stamina dk

Never trust in tooltips. Killers blade does magic damage, but it is mitigated by the enemies armour and not spell resistance.

lolo_01b16_ESO, are you saying then that any Weapon + Stamina ability is mitigated by Physical Resistance; and any Spell + Magicka ability, by Spell Resistance, regardless of the type of damage (Physical, Magic, Flame, ...)?

Then Burning Breath would be 1a and 1b?
