The Maelstrom's Inferno Staff

Hi. Is there a specific way/build to make this staff work well with a Magicka Templar? as I'm mainly dual wielding/puncturing sweeps - but with this staff on my back-bar for example, could it be of any use?

I've never used a destruction staff on a Templar before, so I've just slotted Wall of Elements, and of course I'd need to use that with this staff's build, but what Templar skills could go well with it?

I was thinking of getting 2/2 Molag Kena and fixing a rotation with Dark Flare, Wall of Elements(?) and obviously light attacks or something. What do you think?

wall of elements get a hugh buff next dlc.. So double win with msa firestaff...

I think fire msa with elemtal wall and autoattacks between sweeps will win against dw...When you can go mellee, otherwise switch sweeps for dark flare or force pulse for range

You can go destro / DW for pve dps and put execute on second bar dw...

in PTS you need to use it to max your dps since the cp changes effect magic and elemental damage and the buff to wall of elements, i use this staff on my main bar in pts

Oh that makes a change then! as I just luckily got it and was trying to think of a use for it. Do you still use sweeps with wall of ele on your main bar too @Nifty2g ?

That sounds like a decent set-up to be honest. I'll fix this up after the DLC patch comes (21st or-so of next month for ps4) and give that a good go

By the way @The_Saint Where can I find the changes to Wall of Elements in the patch notes? because on the PTS patch notes (at the top near the maintenance alerts) I can't seem to see it anywhere, only the recent changes to things in the PTS.

Unstable Wall of Elements (Wall of Elements morph): Increased the damage from the final explosion from this morph by 75%. We also fixed an issue where the visual effects of the explosion from this morph did not match the actual damage.
Wall of Elements:

Increased the damage for this ability and its morphs by 80%.
Fixed an issue where Wall of Storms and its morphs were not setting concussed enemies off balance.
Fixed an issue where the visual effects from Wall of Flame and Wall of Frost would not be removed when they were recast at a new location.

depending on fight and situation and trial will be your choice of bar set ups and gear.

sweeps is in the aedric spear line.

Dawn's wrath skill line passives mesh better with the fire staff build. The dark flare empowers.

single target bar may be...

vampire's bane
elemental blockade
dark flare
entropy
???? (magelight for the int?... vampire's bane supplies the crit buff)
meteor

execute/AOE bar

radiant oppression/radiant glory
blazing spear or destro staff AOE (depends on weapon)
sweeps
rune focus
?????

Thanks Nifty. Looks like a decent setup and it makes a change because I'm sure some people can agree that the typical Templar rotation is pretty dull, but with this Destro staff setup and Molag Kena, it makes the rotation much more interesting.

Good point. I'll definitely be making use of Vampire's bane in this update.

friend of mine made some tests on pts with mage templer and msa fire staff...

Its german but i hope you can see what skills he used...




I dont want to hear any magicka templer dd crying about changes next update anymore^^
