Healing Ritual - A Humble Templar's Perspective

I've played ESO since the console launch, back in June. My main character is a Templar. My DPS is only good enough for normal dungeons, so my Templar is a healer. I've healed 40+ Veteran dungeon runs and have two monster sets. I've made friends, I've even played with other factions in dungeons. One guy once said, "I'd hate to run into Spider's group in Cyrodiil."

So by now, as you may imagine, I have an opinion about what's been done to Breath of Life.

It hurt a bit, but not much. I heal in what I think of as layers, with Restoration Staff abilities, a Stamina replenishing ability, and Breath of Life if that isn't enough. I've never slotted Healing Ritual for any serious activities, because the cast time and small radius were noticeable to me even in my very earliest days, when I wasn't knowledgeable about combat mechanics. So naturally, considering all that's been done to the Templar class, I tuned in to ESO Live yesterday (02/12/16) to see if anything else was in store for Templars. Admittedly, I was a bit disappointed with what was outlined. However, something was mentioned: Classes were originally intended to be cool, and different from each other.

Dragonknights fly with those awesome dragon wings at targets, Sorcerers bolt escape, Nightblades can cloak, and Templars can pray/meditate/do something for 1.5 seconds that eventually heals you. Culturally, we don't meditate or pray in any such activity in the midst of danger, and we certainly don't want to get killed in the middle of it. But we're Templars, we call on our inner reserves and unleash our righteous healing upon all around us. Even if we get killed while doing so?

No. I propose a simple change to Healing Ritual: Give the cast time a purpose. Even a slight purpose. Let surrounding allies benefit from Minor Mending, or Minor Intellect, or any Minor buff, until the final heal activates. If not that, a simple armor boost for the Templar caster would work wonders. If a simple change is not applied to Healing Ritual, I cannot justify slotting it over another healing ability.

Thank you for reading the opinion of this humble Templar.

For me it's simple: insta cast or at least 0.5 secs... with it, templar is back in action (well, sort of)

It does seem good to me, but you could theoretically cast it over and over, like a sort of Breath of Life based on area healing.

The skill should apply the Light Weaver passive, as it does on the Ultimate ability.

Wrobel just said on ESO live that Templars, as a class, should thrive when people try to close on them. The Templar casting the skill should gain the armor from this passive as well.

EDIT: I have used Remembrance on my back bar for this effect. Not only using it to toss heals around, but more to prevent death from the onslaught of players trying to burst me. This change would allow a Stamplar, like myself, to slot this ability for that additional utility.

    Short range = can't use
Cast time = definitely can't use
End the tedious inventory management game.

My thoughts. Make it a channeled heal like rite of passage. Bump it's time and heal back to where it was. Bump the range to 28m. Make it interruptible and make it stop channeling if you move (but don't take away the ability to move). So if you only get to cast it for one second, you get off half the heal. Have it cap at 4-6 targets and work out the costs and have it be group only.

Then replace the ultimate with an instant rez. Then the morphs could be one that cuts the cost in half and another that is an AE res that hits the three closest corpses. That might need to be tweaked too, just an idea. Could be group only for the AE, could just be really fast instead of instant.

problem is 10m radius AND being snared while casting it not to mention that templars are the only ruptable class at all (no one else has to use ruprable ablities)...

That makes sense and really addresses the concerns in a non-aggressive manner.
Templars unite and fight the enemy....ZOS?
