Tried to build an overload sorc for pve like the one on deltias' sight but I'm constantly out of resources for boss fights in vet dungeons. Is it worth hitting harder but having to use potions and dark conversion every other minute? Or is it better to build around resource management right now?

High elf
Currently using
V16 staff
2 swords Torugs pact
2 engine guardian magika enchant
5 julianos magika enchant
3 willpower spell dmg
~80 points arcanist
Lvl 7 undaunted so only 1in passive 5,1,1 setup

Use overload when your resources are low. You should always be using potions anyway. If you have to use dark conversion after that, then you need more cost reduction. Your CP is not high enough to justify regen on your jewelry yet.

You should never be using dark conversion. Whatever DPS youve gained with SD on your jewelry is lost the moment you start converting.

Should I have cost reduction instead of spelldmg on the jewelry for now?

What is your stats and what food are you using. Trying using the max health/Magika recovery blue tea. I have similar build I use quite frequently. For dungeon mobs, I have the arcane well cp passive which I see activates quite frequently and helps prevent me from running out. But also, of course frequent Magika pots are required for this build. I just use the v15 6000 Magika standard rubbish ones. Overload is set to energy overload and I do medium/heavy weaving with crushing shock quite frequently.

    32k magika 1500 regen
Dual stat food 38k magika 900 regen

    3200 spell power with swords
    2900 with staff

Your problem is your weaving then, at nearly max reduction (cp) already you should be able to sustain for ~60 seconds (Which is all the fight should go on to begin with). I run a similar build often with 800 regen and the second I stop weaving is the second I start wondering why I have no magicka.

edit: PuG will be PuG, your build is designed around a healer having a clue and fights being a reasonable amount of time. The longer a fight goes on the harder you will find resource management, either account for inexperience (by switching to atro from thief for it) or talk with your healer for more return (ele drain/syphon etc) before the pve environment starts.

I spent my points on arcanist instead of the reduction one I'll switch it and see if it works

my mistake, just assumed their when I should have looked closer. Reduction over Regen always (in pve).

Not too bad a build but notice on your CP allocation you have not got Thaumaturge maxed out, that atm is the magicka version of Mighty, it needs maxed out.

Plus Spell Erosion seemingly is bugged, so only one point is needed there, same with the Armour Pen on the Stamina end, (cannot remember the name atm).

Hopefully Spell Erosion and the stamina version and Torugs will be fixed soon.

No. Dump all points into elemental expert and then the precise / crit damage one. Do not put points into thermaturge this only buffs frags, see below comments on whynyou dont really use frags. Overload is for bosses and creme guards only. Just weave and crushing shock only and on the bosses swap to your sword bar, this bar needs mage light, bound aegis, surge, frags and ward. Buff up (frags proc on buffs) and overload bosses only. If you're running out of magic you're using frags to kill. Slot endless fury and only kill with this (restores 4k magika) and kill with staff attacks. Procd frags should only be used to knock down or stun, don't make kills with frags it'll rinse your magika. Trolls will make comments and try and say lol at not using frags but op try it. Use your execute for its intended design and the same for destro passives. Don't panic and chuck frags out.
