[PS4] Leaderboard rewards

I've only started doing trials a few weeks ago and I think I made it onto the leaderboards once or twice. I heard recently that rewards aren't automatically sent through the mail, but instead that you have to track whether or not you're on the leaderboards at the end of the week yourself and submit a trouble ticket to claim your reward if you made it. Is this true? I always just assumed that I had been knocked off the leaderboards.

I've been getting automatic rewards from Maelstrom on Mondays for being on the weekly leaderboard, no ticket claiming necessary, but that's from Maelstrom, so I'm not exactly sure about the trials.
