@ZOS Do the grouping improvements in the upcoming update include cross faction trial grouping?

The patch notes say that you can invite someone to your party without using the grouping tool. Does this mean we can form 12 man cross faction groups and run trials together?

I was just thinking of this actually and am hopping on PTS to check it out right now. It appears you should be able to since you can invite people from other factions like a normal group... but not sure quite yet

Yup! I (a DC) grouped with an EP player manually, I went to the trial and he ported to me. We can see each other and do it! Only weird thing is he glows yellow (like a non-hostile but attacklable NPC) and I am able to target him. I can try to do something (I was testing with a hard cast frag) and I do the animation but the skill doesn't fire off. So hopefully targetting while doing the trial isn't an issue

@GnGEmpire Well... I don't know anymore. Maybe being able to head to a trial with a cross faction group is unintended. Just went back and realized you are not able to heal your cross-faction group members...

Cross-faction Trials is something we are working on, but isn't fully implemented for this update. While you are able to sort of go into the Trial with other factions, it simply isn't ready yet but is currently in testing. When Thieves Guild goes live next month, the current plan is to just have support for dungeons.

Oh, looks like only a bit more work is needed to make it work though.

Is there any kind of ETA?

I expect this would be GREAT news for most players because currently each server on each platform has its PvE playerbase split into 3 which isn't a good thing.

Altho, enabling grouping for cross faction dungeons is a great step towards this!

how will this work for leadersboards. cross faction doesnt seem right in this game. the whole point of the three alliances is competitive gameplay. i know alot of people want to play crossfaction but they should exclude the scores from leaderboards.

The whole point of three alliances is not necessarily competitive gameplay.

In PvP, alliance separation is a must because it enables the concept of cyrodiil.
In PvE it's a useless hurdle that means people will run less content because there will be less people for them to run it with.
Would you care if the top score of vDSA score was held by someone with a character from your alliance or not? I didn't think so.
Would you be happy to see that your group of friends, or that your guild is holding that position? Of course.

Just my two cents of course, but I think it would be great to be able to do PvE together. I think the alliance separation is limited to lore, Role Playing, and of course PvP. Should have nothing to do with being able to group up with your friends and play together. Furthermore, should have no effect on leaderboards (i.e. Top 100 is Top 100 regardless of alliance).

ofcourse. but in the beginning of the game u choose an alliance. this attracted many players for the competitive gameplay. this kinda dissapears then.

I don't understand. If I do the daily vet pledge as AD, and you do it as DC, how are we competing?

Also, with regard to leaderboards, you are already competing with members of your own faction, so I don't see how this would take away competition; it would, in fact, increase the size of the pool of players you're competing with.

The three alliances is for PvP that's in Cyrodiil, and that's not changing there.
