Animation cancelling with staff question ps4

Light attacking -> crushing shock -> repeat

So does anyone have a hard time on ps4 doing this? Not sure if I'm doing this right but I'm just using the controller like shooting a paintball gun... Rapidly smashing r2 and r1. Don't really see much cancelling haha ^_^;

Try doing a medium or heavy attack. Wind up and let go of the trigger at half way of full animation and hit crushing shock at the same time or right before u let go of the trigger. It feels smoother this way

I used to have the same issue. There is a secret though! The easiest button to weave with (for me at least) is the left bumper L2. This should be where your main spammable skill is binded to.

So L2:Crushing Shock ---> R1:Light attack ---> Repeat

Might feel weird at first, until you realize that your index finger no longer has to jump around like it's racing your thumbs.

The real secret is the staff that you're using. @Armenian_Ninja has the right idea, but that works with fire staves. If you have lightning, you'll have to weave light attacks since lightning staves have channeled attacks. I don't know how to do this with ice staves, never bothered to learn.

@HebrewHatchet Whether the staff is Fire or Ice, it works the same. With a Lightning staff you can only weave with light attacks.

its easier if you switch your attack to a button not a trigger. i just switched r1 and r2 . just dont forget your ulti is now L1 and r2

yea just go to ps4 settings -> accessibility -> button layout

From my experience playing on PS4, the best weaving comes from the Inferno or Ice Staves. The combo for the two with Crushing or Funnel if you're a nb, seems natural. Other the hand weaving with channel heavy attack feels so chucky.

depend wich kind of staff do you use: with channeling staff (lightning or restoration staff) i found cancel animation is more difficult. try the same with inferno staff.

Use crushing shock as L1. It's a lot easier to weave with two seperate hands

Thanks for all the input guys I found a great way of weaving with a lightning staff. I put crushing shock as x and double tap r2 and it's working wonders

Skills cancel basic attacks and blocking cancels skills. Try r2 hold for a second, then what ever button you use for crushing shock, then immediately press l2. Work great on shields because they have long animations

I noticed it's easier for me to start the weaving process with a lightning staff by starting with crushing shock instead of light attack lol! the weaving begins after the first crushing shock
