Stuck at "requesting character load".

Hello, I am making a forum post as it is currently impossible to make a support ticket (according to support page this is a known issue). My issue is that I cannot log in to any of my characters. What happens is that the "requesting character load..." lingers forever, and I get booted to the log in screen after a few minutes, with a generic error message (it literally says something like "error: an error has occured. Wait a few minutes and then try again" - there was no error code # or anything). I literally have no idea why this is happening, but I believe this problem began after the most recent patch, which was a few days ago.

I have tried all of the following steps shown on the "technical troubleshooting" page:

Confirm your computer meets minimum system requirements.
Verify servers are not undergoing scheduled maintenance.
Download and install Windows updates.
Navigate to [AMD/NVIDIA]'s website and download the latest drivers.
Delete C:\Users\<username>\My Documents\Elder Scrolls Online to refresh your ESOTU settings.
Add C:\Program Files (x86)\ZenimaxOnline to your antivirus exceptions.
Repair the game files.

Nothing here worked. I have also tried reinstalling the game, which also didn't work.

Here are my system specs:

Intel i7 5500U @ 2.80 GHz
8 GB Ram
Intel HD Graphics

Currently using windows 8.1.
I am running on a 64-bit OS, and the client I am running is in 32 bit, if that has anything to do with it.

Any form of assistance in the matter would be greatly appreciated, as I have been essentially locked out of the game for close to a week now.

    Hey, just wondering - are you able to send a support ticket? I get an "invalid user/pass" notification when I try to login via support to make a ticket. Otherwise I don't know what to do besides just waiting and hoping someone comes by with a magic solution to solve all our problems.

    update: sent a support ticket a few hours ago. I will notify this thread if they give any information that is helpful at all (which I am weary about, because my support ticket with the subject "can't log in" was greeted with an automated response giving links to where I can recover my password, but I won't give up hope).

    It has been a few days since I sent my support ticket. Hopefully ESO support doesn't simply ignore my existence. Has been over a week I have been unable to play the game. I spent close to $100 on this game, so I am a bit bummed out right now.

    I'm having similar issue but it's only from last patch.

    Half ot the time I get stuck on the box with "Requesting character load". It freezes à some point and then there is chances it stays like that and I have to kill it, or it may get through it and then I can play after a while.

    I also have an issue with connection error 301 since the last patch. Most of the time I try to log in I get that. I keep trying and I can finaly get to the character selection but it's really annoying.

    Since the last patch I've been able to login with first attempt and reach the character selection screen but when I hit Play it'll freeze at "Requesting character load" for a short while and then I'll get booted out to the login screen with the message along the lines of "An Error has occurred please try again in a few minutes."

    When I try to log in again I'll then get "Error 301". The process happens all over again if I exit the client and re-launch.

    Feel bad fr you but at the same time am very glad I am not the only one having this issue. Support still hasn't gotten to me so now new information as of now, unfortunately.

    I have that issue but only when my vpn is connected, if I disable my vpn it works again.. hope that helps someone.

    I am currently dorming, so if I have a VPN (which is highly likely) I probably wouldn't have permission to turn it off. However, I was able to play for a little while at my dorm, so it might not be due to VPN.

    I'm in the same situation since the update on 2/8/16. Nothing like this in the previous 11 months and hundreds of hours of game time. I've put a lot of time researching this issue and trying possibles remedies, with no luck. I've seen that this has happened to people before, both in 2014 and 2015, but no mention of a solution. I wonder if this gets fixed in a subsequent update, or if the people just walk away. No PC maintenance scheduled for this week, anyway.

    I like the game and have 2 VR16 characters that I miss very much, but I'll be cancelling my subscription if this doesn't get fixed soon.

    It's been over a week and I literally haven't gotten an email yet from an actual professional. I've basically given up at this point and expect to receive a *** and useless reply from them asking to restart my computer or something in 3 weeks. A waste of $60+ :/

    Since I've seen zero acknowledgement of the issue from ZoS on the forums I went ahead and decided it's safe to delete my installation. Sucks that I had just bought 60 days premium but them's the breaks. I'll do a re-install maybe in like 3-6 months and if it works then I'll be back for a bit and if not I'll just consider this a completely wasted venture.

    Time to go find myself time consuming hobbies.

    Hi everyone.

    I can tell I have done everything suggested at least 3 times on their check list. Of course it doesn't work. Now here is my unique situation and fix. I live in china and more than likely you are going to say "well your in china, they block everything" of course they block a lot of things (facebook, twitter, instagram etc....) Well my friend lives in china and doesn't have any issues logging on. Anyways getting to my point. The only way I was able to log on without getting kicked off is using a VPN. I am not saying this is for everyone on this form but I think its a case of our Internet service providers blocking ports on their end or IP Addresses. I am trying to get a friend of mine to translate to my internet provider the issue but I am confident to say I think our internet providers have to open up ports on their end. Or humor the situation you guys plug directly from the wall or their modem. So I have eliminated a lot of steps because I bypass the router and go straight from the wall. So that eleminates port forwarding as if your from the wall (no modem with a fiber optic connection) then the only steps are to diable all antivirus protections, reset and flush dns, winsock etc. Thats it.... The only other step is to get information needed to give to our ISP. Once the ISP opens stuff on their end we should be able to get on. By the way its pretty poor to be promoting a deal on steam with their game in china if its not going to work in china. But like i said using a VPN solves my issue. If anyone has any ideas on how to fully resolve this please send me a message

    This is only a temporary solution, but it helps to have played.

    - use program WTFast sometimes help good
    - Use mobile internet, this was proof that the game is not broken in my comp
