PTS Patch Positivity Thread

So... it's that time again. When everybody is mentioning, complaining and getting upset at the changes they don't like, that a single positivity thread pops up to bring some hope to the ppl :p

That sounded deep, right?

So how about we use this thread to list the changes we do like about the upcoming changes. I'll start:

Skills:
- Dark Cloak/Shadowy Disguise: I'm really glad that the skill got more fair and balanced without messing up a NB's stealth gameplay (especially MagBlades :p Big "Thank You", ZOS) while at the same time making both morphs useful. I've always been wanting to use Disguise for it's 100% Crit Chance, especially since now I hot for about 10k on Concealed Weapon :p
- Thank you for the general fixes to NB skills (Lotus Fan) and passives (Pressure Points)
- Love the buff to Wall of Elements :p
- Magelight and Meteor Changes: makes IC so much safer and Meteor more useful

Champion Points:
- Really liking the Physical Damage Reduction star in the Champion System (I <3 Magicka :p )
- Also Elemental Expert: makes my Destro Staff much better

Classes:
- Love it that Mag DKs got buffed reel gud :p I'm planning on making one in the future, but I'm not sure on how to name him. Maybe "Dragonspine Tryxus"? How's that sound? :p

DLC:
- Jackal pet and Camel mounts :p
- Thieves Guild itself: I love the storylines of the TG in each TES game, and it's always the most fun guild to join as well :p Hoping for the same thing here (kinda suspecting an "Origin Story" of the TG here, branching out to the other provinces)
- Hew' Bane looks fantastic, judging from the SS and the videos
- New Thieving missions, without making it too easy for a MagBlade like me

Those are the changes I like the most. Plz post the ones you like (and plz keep it positive :p)

Big smile, big smile, BIG SMILE :D

    - Promoting small group gameplay with the buff to ap per kill and capping ap boost to 50%. (Though this AVA rank... nevermind stay positive)
    - Channeling skills hit through dodge roll, makes sense dodge rolling while i have a beam of death on your and it missing doesn't make sense.
    - Physical cp - Was needed.
    - Magicka dk changes - No execute but atleast i won't need invasion as a gap closer. Happy with changed overall though dragon blood :(
    - Buff's to some monster helm sets.
    - Monster helm set vendor becuase F*** rng. FYI this was both a pve and pvp request.
    - Actually like the change to mag det, 15% reduction isn't too much but it can still be used single target but hopefully won't hit for 10k now. Though now it is an actual zerg buster. Too bad everyone going to get it within a day of pvping.
    - The cloak make my dot skills happy.
    - The fact that all magika dmg is one cp and all physical dmg is one cp is also very good. Helps some classes more than others, though now dk's don't have to bother with 3 types of dmg in their rotation ,sorc can buff their light skills, templars fire dmg gets buffed etc...

Theres more but i can't remember,... I tried to stay positive but some things just really annoy me.

There's quite a bit in the patch that I like, and I've commented on a bunch of what I like in threads in the PTS section. Because if ZOS doesn't see the feedback about what people do like, they might change those things. Actually, on balance there's very little in the patch that I don't like.

A couple of my favorite things from the patch:
    • Assistants. I don't see myself using them very often, but I like them and for the times when I do want to use them rather than go into a town they're pretty damn cool.
    • The camel mount. Seeing it in-game, it's really great, and my Redguard will be riding it and getting it to spit on people.
    • The changes to the group finder tool. OK, the caveat here is that I haven't actually used the tool on PTS yet - I've just checked out how the UI looks and what the options are. But I love what I see. It's so much freaking better.
    • The changes to magicka DKs. I don't want to single out any specific changes that were made here, but overall magicka DKs got made much more viable.
    • The style of gameplay in the TG quests. It feels like proper thieving missions. The only thing that would make it better is if there were some where it's a 2-man, 3-man, or 4-man job requiring you to group up and coordinate how you get past guards (with maybe one person distracting while others slip past for example), having one person keep watch while another picks a lock, etc. Maybe there are missions like this that I haven't seen, but I don't think so.

There's other stuff I like too, but those are some of the first things that come to mind.

Best new changes, in no particular order:

    1) Champion System revamp. The passives are much more balanced and sensible than before.

    2) Reduced AP requirements for Assault/Support ranks. This is going to make the game SO much better for PvP newbies.

    3) Dragonknight buffs. I just leveled my first DK to VR1 on live and realized how weak they are... so these buffs came just in time!

I like that @UrQuan says, there are proper thievery missions, I trust into his gaming experience and so I am looking forward to this, because I like stealth gameplay at lot.

I like that rapid maneuver will no longer disrupt my emotes and does not speed me up, when I am walking through town. This just messed with my roleplay and it is good, that ZOS changed that.

I am as well pretty fond of getting a sprint speed boost - this will be awesome with a set of well-fitted armor pieces. I think this will go pretty well with thievery and so I welcome this change.

And of course I love the camels - 2 of them are on my buy list.

Well and then the designs of costumes in this DLC seem to be very nice, I love this redguard noble dress, it looks like a marroc kaftan and has very tasteful colors, but there are other outfits, which I want as well - overall a nice collection.

I am excited about the large city and it's architecture, and I guess that the landscape will overall be very pleasing to my eyes.

I have not played it on the PTS, so I cannot say a lot more about it, but what i saw in videos looked absolutely stunning.

To be totally transparent, that's based on first impressions only - I haven't done much of the new content. It does initially feel very stealthy-thieving to me though. It feels a bit like what I liked about Thieves Guild missions in previous TES games, but if anything I think it's better in this DLC with more strategic sneaking and figuring stuff out. Again, though, that's really just first impressions based on just having done a little bit of the content.

I found a disguise and it is absolutely lovely and very detailed. I wish we had a disguise tab in our collections too.

I got a very good impression of the characters. All of them. Still didn't find any old characters, though, I don't know if there are any later on.

Love to see NPCs wearing Crown Store costumes!

LOVE the new hair styles some NPCs have! I hope they are going to be made available to us when the barber shop is introduced.

The thieving missions are really fun. I tried to stay true to the Thieves Guild's "no deaths" thing, which made me have to actually think about what I was doing so I could avoid fights.

It is nice that we have different kinds of mission. I love the ones where you retrieve lost trinkets that have special meaning to the people who lost them, and the NPC that coordinates this kind of mission tells you the story behind them.

The assistants are really convenient, and I like having someone around while I'm exploring, even if they don't talk a lot. I hope more kinds of assistants are introduced in the future, and that they have a few dialogue options too.

Just so that everyone knows, my Altmer still can't have black hair. About a dozen of Altmer NPCs in the game have black hair. Just saying.

    Meet my characters:
    Command: Do the thing.

Zadarri, Khajiit Fist of Thalmor: The thing was done, as commanded.
Durza gra-Maghul, Orc blacksmith: The thing was done perfectly, in the most efficient way.
Tegwen, Bosmer troublemaker: You can't prove I didn't do the thing.
Sings-Many-Songs, Argonian fisher: Sure, I'll do the thing... Eventually. Maybe.
Aerindel, Altmer stormcaller: After extensive research, I've come to the conclusion that doing the thing would be a waste of resources.
Liliel, Dunmer pyromancer: Aerindel said I shouldn't do the thing. Something about "resources".
Gyda Snowcaller, Nord cryomancer: I will find a way to do it that won't waste resources and make Aerindel proud of me.
Beatrice Leoriane, Breton vampire: I persuaded someone else into doing the thing. You are welcome, dear.
Sahima, Redguard performer: Doing the thing sounds awfully unpleasant and really not my problem.
Ellaria Valerius, Imperial priestess: I'll pray to the Eight for the thing to be done, if it is Their will.

Is nobody going to mention the sweet engine / API improvements? No techie love for the technical stuff =(
    • x64-bit coming with (hopefully) threading, and memory management improvements
    • Renderer API updates: By the sound of it they're actually fully moving to DX11 now, instead of using sub DX10 /w a d3d11 wrapper.
    • Also a huge improvement on the OGL side. Going from GL version 2.1 (which was introduced in early 2006 lol), updated to GL 4.1. Which will allow for many improvements in both performance, and quality. Such as greatly improved feature / extension support, (bindless, etc).

Chains still is inferior to Invasion
Invasion will always gap close while chains wont also it gives a knockdown

More info on the many things from 2.1-4.1 here: https://www.opengl.org/wiki/History_of_OpenGL.
    • Improved the animation systems, the clipping on models, sound fx, etc, etc.

    Nice work, team \o/
Well, I would have mentioned the 64-bit client, but the PC version isn't in this patch...

I'm fairly sure it's not in this PTS revision. But (?) it should be in the patch by the time it actually goes live.
That's true, but I figured this thread was about what was in the patch that just hit PTS, rather than stuff that should be coming when it hits live. That's just my own interpretation, though, I'm not saying your interpretation is wrong, just explaining why I didn't put the 64-bit client in my list of PTS Patch Positivity.

I've literally no idea why they'd prioritize ... mac first lol. Don't get me wrong, I'm not hating on mac, but....c'mon, really? xD.

    Mac? gaming? what?.

I like that @UrQuan says, there are proper thievery missions, I trust into his gaming experience and so I am looking forward to this, because I like stealth gameplay at lot.

Ha, this would be great, thx for telling me.

There's always one that ruins the thread...

Me, I really, really like the DK changes. I now feel much less inclined to rely on GDB for heals as I should be able to use Burning Embers and Inhale now :)

    Skills:
    - Dark Cloak/Shadowy Disguise: I'm really glad that the skill got more fair and balanced without messing up a NB's stealth gameplay

    This plus this:
    - Magelight

Did mess it up it would seem.
