Ever felt lonely adventuring the glorious lands of Tamriel and beyond? Felt the need for a companion? Need someone to buff and heal you on the side when you've met with a ferocious world boss? Fret not, Zenimax is introducing you a new feature called Hireling.

What is Hireling, you ask? It's basically a playable NPC that follows you around, providing you with mediocre assistance in your journey to rid Nirn of Oblivion's influence, or to haste it instead! Whatever your adventure, you can have these bemused Hirelings tag along to dish out subpar damage to your foes, or heal you when you're in a pinch (as long as you stay within a specific radius), and occasionally getting stuck midway from bolting to your enemies (this is an intended feature, fret not).

How do I gain access to this, you might ask? Simple! Just have an in real life friend or a player that has abandoned all hope of life in gaming to don the class formerly known as Templar grouped with you, and lo and behold, you have yourself a new Hireling!

Disclaimer: Feature will be made available when the Thieves Guild hits Live server.

Real Disclaimer: This post was intended as parody, but contains extra sprinkle of salt, sarcasm and w(h)ine.

That is possible, but is subjected to the RNG known as 'intended player's discernment'.

Well, you have to find the proper 'vendor' that lets you pick the Hireling that fits your playing needs ;)

i have asked for, and wanted hireling NPC's since beta 2013
other mmo's have them also, for example:
as you can see below these hirelings work and function when you cant find your friends online or your having a problem getting a healer or tank for a group and need maybe a rogue ASAP or a damage dealer or a healer and cant find one?
    then just use hirelings :)
dungeons and dragons online and many other mmo's have them.

Completely agree. The option for a NPC mercenary or hireling would be a great addition. This has been touched on before and I for one would like to see this implemented.

My topic was me taking a jab (pun very much intended) at how bad Templar is (and will continue to be) with the state of class balancing that Zenimax has to offer for said class.

As for your idea, I'm neither for or against it.

.... Didn't templars got sooper buffed for pvp ?
BoL aside, that is... but c'mon, BoL spam was zerg friendly, that had to go. Steel tornado had it's radius diminished by 3 meters and people ain't complaining.

I honestly don't give a Horker's Pie about what happens to Templars in PvP, it's ruining the PvE scene.
