Skill reset?

Probably should be a reset. There are a lot of changes in this update and a respec for at least morphs should be handed out. Scroll us?

I know when the tim ed comes I will have to go through it slowly you make sure I don't automatically choose a skill that has been changed into nonessential. And of course the champion points are completely different for me now.

Buy a scroll for that. XD

If people complained enough to get them to stop giving us free respecs, then we should complain enough to push it the other way. With all of the balance changes, we need to be given free skill resets and champion point redistributions. It's going to be very expensive to make necessary changes on up to 8 characters.

A free respect is needed. The old builds does not work anymore. It is too expensive to respect all alts now.

I would say that with this amount of changes a free class respect and a free racial respect should be offered.

We don't currently have plans to offer a skill reset. If it was something we did do, it would still be an automatic reset upon login as we haven't developed a way to let you reset on your own yet (so it would be like previous times we had a skill reset).

Can it be that hard to just hand out a reset scroll for everyone I mean come on lol

You need to do a skill reset. You completely changed some skills.

Can we get a week of 1 Gold, or even 100 Gold Skill Respecs? That worked very well and it was optional and people could do this at their convenience. It would allow people to load up their characters, try them out as they were before and see if they even need to change anything. If they are happy with things the way they are, they leave their skills alone. Otherwise, they can try out different things for a week and get a build they like.
Enjoy the game, life is what you really want to be worried about.

I can see the complaint with forced respecs when there are just a few skill changes, but when there are so many changes to all the classes and to champion points as well, I think a respec should at least be offered. I like the scroll idea myself even if it expired after a while or was bound to the backpack. That way if you wanted to hop on and play right away or try out the changes before a respec you could do so and respec later.

I agree with this. A respec isn't needed, but reduced respec costs for about a week or so after this patch would do wonders. Forced respeccing is REALLY annoying, but I like the option to have a limited time frame to get a respec on my own terms if I decide it's needed.

They should offer a way to do it for each character.
Either very cheaply ie: the 1 gold per point for a limited time, as mentioned before, or a time limited scroll.

Changing a bunch of our skills and champion points around and then making us pay lots of gold and/or crowns to fix imbalances caused to our builds is not good customer service. A long time ago you used to give us a very cheap week of skill resets at the shrine when many skills were changed. People loved that because they could adjust to your changes at their own pace. Now you have scrolls for that sort of thing. Delivering a complimentary respec scroll to each character on log in would be even better for the ultra casuals who miss a week. And it would not force anyone to respec at log in, which a lot of people hated.

This sounds good to me as well. If a reset is not planned, at least reduce respec costs for a couple of weeks.

To be frank, based on a first read of the CP changes, to not offer a reset for these is bad business; to show broader respect for the players it would be to their credit to provide a single free skill reset per character (so fulfilling the wishes of those who want to and those who don't- win/win). Every MMO I've played since the original Everquest has been able to offer that :*

You could give everyone a free respect scroll from the CS, problem solved, no extra programming necessary. That one was free Gina ;)

THank you. I like the idea of free reset but it would be nice to be able to select an option when i logged in and not just have no skills. But when you develop w way to let us reset on your own by all means throw them out like Oprah throws out cars!

@ZOS_GinaBruno Please don't force reset again, why not give us time limited respec scrolls from the crown store . Have say a 24hr time on them which would be plenty time to test the new set up and decide OURSELVES if we want the re-spec or not. After the 24hours if we didnt use the scroll it would disappear from our inventory. Problem solved and everyone happy.

Except for people who aren't home during that 24 hour period. Should be at least a few days.

But the best solution is indeed character bound respec scrolls.

Frankly, at this stage, the best solution for those who want or need to respec is the one that's always been available in the game : take some gold and go to the respec shrine.
Come on guys, even if those changes are not "your choice", even if you "deserve" a free respec, is it that much of a deal ? Do you really need things like that handed over to you ?
A reasonable amount of taking care of oneself by oneself isn't bad.

An involuntary skill change should not cost in-game gold. Imagine if you have a lot of skillpoints on all characters, a skill point reset is about 15k. 8 x 15k = 120k gold.

Now I know to you or me 120k gold seems like nothing, but for others it might be a lot. Me personally, I'd rather spend that on gear or materials to be honest.

Frankly, perhaps it's time you take some gold, and shove it up your ass.

Most developers give their players the option of free skill resets when they make changes to skills in updates because it's not only the right and fair thing to do, it's the economically intelligent thing to do. People don't like when the rules are changed on them halfway through the game, forcing them to pay to keep their characters relevant with the skill changes will eventually drive people away out of frustration. It's not, nor will it ever be about the price for most, but principle. It does no harm to Zenimax to provide the free respec to its players as proven by literally every other game and company that does the same.

At the very least, CP's should be reset because of the major changes occurring with the Constellations.

However, I also agree that a week of reduced SP resets or a free respec token is also warranted because of the major changes with some skills. Yet, it makes me wonder how possible this would be for consoles... because the 'reduced SP respecs' occurred when ESO was only the PC version- not sure how this would work with consoles and their patching system.

With all of the changes to skills and the CP system I would like to see a free respec for both.

If I had to respec all of my characters skills and champion points it'll cost a pretty penny. Nearly 15k gold per character. Which adds up to about 120k gold. I know a fair amount of people that don't have anywhere near that amount of gold laying around.

Last time there was a free respec, I stopped playing for about four months, because everytime I loaded up, I was faced with the boring task of redistributing my 200ish skill points. I wanted to just get in and start having fun, so I generally switched to another game.

For all I know there could have been several respecs in that time.

I only started playing again the day the Thieves guild video was released, so I would be quite annoyed if in a couple of weeks all my skills are reset again!

I don't see why everyone can't just be mailed or instanced a respec scroll, or have reduced 1g respecs as others have suggested.

Also, if champion points have also been changed, will there be a champion point respec? I only have about thirty (and one is in the wrong place anyway) so I wouldn't care either way- but those with several hundred might!
