Bugged targetting

Tab targeting things used to work pretty reliably for me but lately(since like a few patches ago) it seems my attacks hit anything BUT what I have targeted. It's really frustrating in places like MSA or Cyro when I NEED to hit a specific enemy but evidently can't even while having him/her/it tab targeted.
Here's a vid of me testing it on a friend and his pets, I have Clannie targeted but I'm obviously not hitting him half the time. It appears I'm hitting whoever my crosshair(or whatever it's called) is pointed at but if then why do we have targeting at all if it basically doesn't do anything? It does seem that if there's an enemy in front of the targeted enemy I will hit the targeted enemy instead but as soon as the crosshair is pointing slightly to the side where there's another enemy...boo.

I'm pretty sure this used to work better than this, I've been using tab targeting since forever.

EDIT: Unsure that's the right section to post in, would normally go to General or something but it's way too lively atm.

While I'm not 'concrete 100%' certain on this. I'm fairly sure that the soft targetting is (practically speaking) only for making specific targets easier to see/find in a crowd. It doesn't actually 'lock on' to anything.

While it may actually work somewhat if you've got nothing actually in your sights. I suspect that the targetting reticle/crosshair has major priority over it. So if anything is in your crosshair aim, it will take prio and hit that instead.

Honestly, I'd like a hybrid mode, similar to how BnS does it, to where you have the optionality (keyword being optionality) of either using a 'full' aiming mode (like it is now). Or, using a more traditional soft targetting mode, with the mouse unlocked. So you can interact with stuff using the mouse, etc.

This is in the case of PC, of course. But, it would also work well on consoles using a KB+M.

The issue is I have used it before and it didn't use to function like this. It'd even function to the point where if you turn 180 degrees away from the target, a lot of the time your attacks would go behind you, still hitting the enemy you're targeted on rather than one directly in front of you.

I'm not sure if they "fixed" this to how they always intended this or broke it instead but I personally liked old version better.
