Force Pulse and Ultimate Regeneration

I always wanted to know, if Ultimates regenerate through combat engagement, why the main skill of a ranged DPS, which is used to deal damage and thus engage combat doesn't regenerate Ultimate like Mage's Wrath used during execution phase?

It's not my fault. I should not be forced to weave to have regeneration once combat engagement has one plain and simple definition. If I engage combat, no matter how, I should regenerate. Period.

Also, if weaving is REALLY mandatory NONE of the abilities should regenerate Ultimates without weave, which is not what happens, like I said with Mage's Wrath but also for other classes, mostly stamina based, that keeps regenerating while spamming Steel Tornado.

Ultimate regen is activated through weaponsattacks. There are some skills that grant minor heroism to increase ultimate gain, but they don't replace the normal ult gain. Also there is some passives that give ultimate under certain circumstances. But the mainsource of ultimate is the gain through weapon attacks.

Mages Wrath doesn't regenerate ult points, neither does steel tornado.

Edit: Blocking and roll dodge also activates the ultimate gain.

We used to get Ultimate on Critical Hits, skill or weapon attacks. I kind of miss that.

But, I have found out that weaving in even light attacks in between skills gives a decent amount of Ultimate Regen

Never noticed that, I usually drop liquid lightning use vamp drain hit with three force pulse and start over. Ultimate charges pretty fast (mostly due to vamp drain I believe).

Force pulse does not generate ult only heavy and light attacks shooting star and heroic lash. Drinking a potion if you are nightblade..... Deep. It never has other than the ult gen system several patches ago.

Ultimate is generated via a short timer, which is activated whenever you use light/heavy attacks or heal.

Mage's Wrath DOES regenerate, not always, but it does, and it's probably because of critical attacks, like Nestor said.

This could be improved. Not saying that all attacks should regenerate nor that each attack should regenerate a large amount, but maybe 1~3 points every 10 seconds wouldn't hurt.
