Is the new Templar eclipse op?

Reading the patch notes, it seems that the eclipse skill can reflect both physical and magicka spells AND be applied regardless of cc immunity. Does that make Templar the best dueling class then since you can reapply the skill immediately after your enemy cc breaks it until they ran out of stamina?

You misunderstand how it works. One morph is more like velocious curse now (Sorcerer skill) and therefore has nothing to do with cc/debuff effects. This morph is purely dps. The other morph is a reflect but this means it reflects single target physical and magica projectiles. Templar actually lost some efficacy in this change of the morph but gained a little back by reflecting presumably light/heavy attacks and bow skills/shards skills/etc. This skill also can be cc broken which completely nullifies the point of using it. If you want reliable reflect as a Templar you need to use Defensive Posture. The huge black bubble is an easy giveaway letting people know that they need to cc break for free long duration cc immunity. Compare this to reflective scales which (while being expensive isn't less so than Eclipse) and bounces back 4 projectiles from any and all attackers, and does bring wierd cc/purge mechanics into the mix. Which of these two skills seems to be more effective and easy to use? Finally, they've changed the rules so you can not reflect a reflect, making Eclipse as a hard counter to Reflective Scales a moot point.

    Eclipse:
This ability and the Total Dark morph can now reflect ranged physical projectiles back to the enemy, in addition to spell projectiles.
Revised the tooltips for this ability and the Total Dark morph to indicate that the area damage effect is separate from the self-reflect effect, and can be applied to a CC-immune target.
Fixed an issue where this ability and the Total Dark morph could reflect snares from ground-placed ticking abilities, such as Caltrops or Ash Cloud, and cause you to move at extremely high speeds.

    Copied from the patch notes
It says "can be applied to a cc-immune target"

so that way it's better than defensive posture in a 1v1 right? Since it can be applied for ever ignoring cc immunity

No. The reflect effect only works if they are not CC immune. The dmg effect can be placed regardless of CC immunity.

Total dark already works this way I believe. If I cast it on someone with CC immunity they get a glow around thier waste that explodes for damage but there is no reflect bubble

The area damage effect, which is different from the reflect. Says it right there. Eclipse's damage is also less powerful and more expensive than inevitable detonation.

Also of note, I've caught a sorc low on stam for a CC break. Stamina builds are less likely to have this problem.

"Revised the tooltips for this ability and the Total Dark morph to indicate that the area damage effect is separate from the self-reflect effect, and can be applied to a CC-immune target."

So this means that the area damage effect can be re-applied, NOT the reflect part...
