What will happen to Templars with the patch? Place your bets!

They will adjust breath of life, it will not be useless, Templars who created a build around BoL spamming will cry rivers of tears.

After Breath of Life gets adjusted I'm hoping for several buffs.

ZOS will not aknowledge any of the Templar issue, they will nerf Breath of Life to appease the QQ crowd and call it a day!
My guess at the first line of the patch notes:
This update is going to contain incremental nerfs in preparation of the removal of the Templar class.

    Just joking.

But this poll seems to be a good indicator of Templar players' mood.

To be fair to the Templars here we weren't always this upset and bitter but when the class you love is systemically nerfed patch after patch with bugs and issues not getting resolved it kinda forces this mindset on us. I think a lot of us WANT to be hopeful, but we have been burned way to many times in this process to have any real hope that Templars will be any different after the patch.

Most likely they will give us a small dps upgrade, medium to large nerf on healing and Toppling Charge will be "fixed" yet still be broken.

I think they made a post in the past about changes/fixes they plan to make, which didn't satisfy me at all, because it consisted basically of some fixing, but only for Magicka Templars. Let's hope something changed since then.

This was pretty much my purpose of this poll.
I wanted to see where the community, and mainly the Templar community, stood in regards to faith on the balance changes incoming.
Let's just say it turned out exactly how I expected it to.
Whether ZOS will deliver or not has yet to be shown but I have a very strong feeling I will be playing my NB a lot more in the next patch.
For once I hope to have misjudged ZOS, and if that is the case I will be the first to make a happy and positive post in which I apologize for my harsh words as of late.

    The verdict is in:
    Templar
    • Aedric Spear
      • Blazing Spear (Spear Shards morph): This morph now displays a hostile red telegraph if it is cast from enemy Templars.
      • Focused Charge: This ability and its morphs are now more responsive, and will no longer cause you to become stuck in the charge animation.
      • Piercing Javelin: Increased the range of this ability and its morphs to 28 meters from 20 meters.
      • Puncturing Strikes: This ability and its morphs no longer knockback and apply crowd control immunity to the nearest enemy on the final hit; instead, they now snare that enemy by 70% for two seconds.
      • Radial Sweep: Increased the radius of this ability and its morphs to 6 meters from 5 meters.
      • Radiant Ward (Sun Shield morph): Increased the shield strength bonus from this morph’s shield to 6% per enemy hit from 5%.
    • Dawn’s Wrath
      • Backlash: Increased the maximum damage limit for this ability and its morphs by 25%, but decreased their damage stored amount by 66%. In addition, this ability and its morphs can no longer be reflected.
      • Eclipse:
        • This ability and the Total Dark morph can now reflect ranged physical projectiles back to the enemy, in addition to spell projectiles.
        • Revised the tooltips for this ability and the Total Dark morph to indicate that the area damage effect is separate from the self-reflect effect, and can be applied to a CC-immune target.
        • Fixed an issue where this ability and the Total Dark morph could reflect snares from ground-placed ticking abilities, such as Caltrops or Ash Cloud, and cause you to move at extremely high speeds.
      • Enduring Rays:
        • This passive ability now only increases the duration of the Sun Fire, Eclipse, and Nova abilities.
        • Increased this passive ability’s bonus to 15/30% more duration at Ranks I/II from 10/20%.
      • Nova:
        • Reduced the effects and visual light intensity for this ability and its morphs.
        • Increased the damage from the Supernova and Gravity Crush synergies by 16%.
        • Increased the activation range for the Supernova and Gravity Crush synergies to 3.5 meters from 2.5 meters.
      • Radiant Destruction: Fixed an issue where the execute bonus damage from this ability would not apply if multiple Templars were channeling these abilities on the same target.
      • Solar Flare: Increased the damage for this ability and the Dark Flare morph by 12%. The damage of the Solar Barrage morph remains unchanged.
      • Unstable Core (Eclipse morph): Increased the area damage when the effect ends by 50% and can be placed on an unlimited amount of targets, but it no longer reflects single target spells back to the enemy.
      • Vampire’s Bane (Sun Fire morph): Increased the damage over time duration for this morph to 9 seconds from 7 seconds.
    • Restoring Light
      • Breath of Life (Rushed Ceremony morph): This morph now only fires one additional secondary heal, previously two heals.
      • Cleansing Ritual:
        • Increased the healing from the Purify synergy from this ability and its morphs by 12%.
        • Fixed an issue where this ability and its morphs could be used to cleanse projectiles that were mid-flight. It now matches the behavior of the Purge ability.
      • Focused Healing: This passive ability now grants you the Major Mending buff while standing in your own Cleansing Ritual, Rune Focus, or Rite of Passage area effects and for up to 2/4 seconds after leaving them at Ranks I/II, instead of granting you 15/30% more healing to allies standing in your own Cleansing Ritual, Rune Focus, or Rite of Passage.
      • Healing Ritual: Reduced the cast time for this ability and its morphs by 25%, and reduced the healing done by 25%.
      • Radiant Aura (Restoring Aura morph): This morph now grants you and your allies the Major Intellect buff upon activation, as well as having an increased radius as a morph effect.
      • Restoring Focus (Rune Focus morph): This morph now grants you the Minor Protection buff, in addition to granting the Minor Vitality buff as a morph effect.
      • Rite of Passage: In order to prevent visual issues or issues where the channel would end prematurely, this ability and its morphs can no longer be cast in mid-air.
      • Rune Focus: Revised the tooltips for this ability and its morphs to indicate that the Major Ward and Major Resolve buffs will stick to you for 8 seconds after leaving the rune, while the morph effects of Channeled Focus and Restoring Focus require you to remain in the rune at all times.

A couple of good and needed changes in here, but at the same time not quite enough to bring Stamina Templars up to scratch.

I will be doing a post on what more needs to be done to Stamina Templars in the coming week based on these changes.

Magicka Templars seem to be at a good spot and I am totally fine with the Breath of Life change.

I agree, they need to rethink a few things for Stamplars. I'm looking forward to getting my hands on the changes though. I'll probably play around with the Stamplar a while and then respec and playtest some of the magicka changes. As an aside, Sun shield will still be junk even with +1% more shield on Radiant ward per enemy struck. At this point it is only a pve skill, and will likely remain that way unless they do something about the way health and shields were nerfed in Cyrodiil. As it stands there are simply better choices with longer duration. Oh, and we still need Blinding Flashes back (or some form of aoe cc). Blazing Spear is already a pretty flaccid ability that is easily telegraphed, I'm not sure how making it even more visible and easy to avoid is any kind of improvement. I'm fine with the red circle, but this skill needs to either be an aoe cc, or the damage needs to be worth something.

The changes to Backlash are not entirely clear to me either: [Increased the maximum damage limit for this ability and its morphs by 25%, but decreased their damage stored amount by 66%. In addition, this ability and its morphs can no longer be reflected.] How can the maximum be 25% more, but it stores 66% less? That sounds like 1 step forward 2 steps back to me.

Eclipse is interesting now, dark flare got a modest buff, sweep/jabs got the 'fix' it deserved months ago, heals got screwed, most of the lackluster skills (lol radial sweep, javelin, and shield) remain lackluster.

Overall I think the templar changes are right on par for what ZOS usually does in keeping the class under par. But anyway, while healers were royally effed over, stamplars actually had a monumental buff that most people haven't caught on to yet it seems like, at the expense of healers. Standing in your purify gives you major mending which means your vigor and rally will be 25% stronger, which is HUGE.

I wish they could have buffed stamplars without it being at the expense of healers, but at least some templars got a nice buff to their gameplay :/

EDIT: major mending is healing done, not healing received. I interpreted the change wrong. If it was received, then only the templar benefits, if it's done, then it is mostly unchanged from the current passive. I was wrong that the passive change was a big nerf to healers. With the change from major mending going from 30% to 25%, it's only a 5% loss from what the current passive is (considering most players don't have the major mending buff on them during normal play).

ZOS will aknowledge some of the Templar issues, they will try to fix the bugs but fail, nothing will be buffed!
It's really weird what they did with Healing Ritual. This won't help the skill much.

Just finished leveling my magicka sorcerer to v16, turns out that was a pretty good idea.

I'm really new to this whole healing thing (don't worry, I won't end up in your pug while I'm still learning, I don't pug until I'm confident enough on my skill on that class). Why was "nerf BoL" a thing to begin with?
Just so that everyone knows, my Altmer still can't have black hair. About a dozen of Altmer NPCs in the game have black hair. Just saying.

    Meet my characters:
    Command: Do the thing.

Zadarri, Khajiit Fist of Thalmor: The thing was done, as commanded.
Durza gra-Maghul, Orc blacksmith: The thing was done perfectly, in the most efficient way.
Tegwen, Bosmer troublemaker: You can't prove I didn't do the thing.
Sings-Many-Songs, Argonian fisher: Sure, I'll do the thing... Eventually. Maybe.
Aerindel, Altmer stormcaller: After extensive research, I've come to the conclusion that doing the thing would be a waste of resources.
Liliel, Dunmer pyromancer: Aerindel said I shouldn't do the thing. Something about "resources".
Gyda Snowcaller, Nord cryomancer: I will find a way to do it that won't waste resources and make Aerindel proud of me.
Beatrice Leoriane, Breton vampire: I persuaded someone else into doing the thing. You are welcome, dear.
Sahima, Redguard performer: Doing the thing sounds awfully unpleasant and really not my problem.
Ellaria Valerius, Imperial priestess: I'll pray to the Eight for the thing to be done, if it is Their will.

ZOS will not aknowledge any of the Templar issue, they will nerf Breath of Life to appease the QQ crowd and call it a day!

It can be abused in PvP. AKA - there is no LOS check on it so people could hide behind stuff and just spam it (well, until you were out of magicka) and it would heal 2 targets with each go...

You can still do that. But it will only heal 1 person.

A lot of Sorcerer and NB burst build players didn't like that their damage could be countered by a heal, not considering the fact that healing is purely defensive. One of the largest complaints rolling around was that people were healing through walls. I'm not saying this never happened, but it was hardly the danger it was made out to be.

I'm also in agreement that the major mending buff does help Stamplars. I actually think it helps Templar healers as well though, because it was stupid that other classes were far outperforming Templars on the more fuel efficient heal skills from Restoration Staff tree. The big loss is that BoL will no longer heal You+2. You+1 is still pretty good though, given that it is a burst heal, you should have your tank and yourself covered, or yourself and a straggling dps.

I also like the range increase on the Javelin kb skill, it matches with stone fist as well. Templar still has horrible cc though with respect to the other classes, and I think other class heals have been brought closer in line with Templar. This in and of itself isn't a bad thing, but they really need to consider doing something about Templar class cc.

I'm still curious what the Backlash changes are, because what was posted isn't entirely clear to me. I want to use this skill badly. Its the one dawn wrath skill that is vaguely interesting to a Stamplar.

Eclipse being able to reflect physical attacks is a surprising and happy change.

The class as a whole is still immobile and sluggish, that doesn't change here. Templars should make up for that with greater resiliency, like DK, and I'm just not seeing it. I look forward to testing out the changes though before I really state any hard opinions.
