So I think my NB is ready...
Never been to Cyro with my stamblade. But I really need vigor and Caltrops..but are caltrops actually worth it? Anyone post any screen shots showing how much damage they do? For a stam based of course. On my Sorc they do a pony 319 damage. Really want to know if it's worth grinding what 700k AP for them. Thinking of trying the arena woth it but I need these skills first. I see from PVE in pugs static bosses love being eaten by caltrops?

MrGigglypants✭✭✭You don't need caltrops for maelstrom. It does good damage over 1k per second for 30-35. Vigor is your bread and butter though it's trash in maelstrom compared to magicka based heals.0 -

✭The bow skill "Volley" is a better aoe dot for Maelstrom, but definitely get vigor!0 -

✭✭Does Volley do more damage? I haven't even bothered to unlock it yet? Wanted caltrops for the snare and sheer time span. For rounds 5 and 6 it should be a breeze to park up on one island and let them do the work and the spider champion can eat them up along with its stupid minions.PC Master Race

Pretty sure arrow barrage will do more damage, and it's a lot cheaper. Caltrops is better for pvp just because of the huge radius and snare, but for the arena, I'd say barrage/volley is the best bet.0 -

If you don't use 2H, then you'll need Vigor.
You'll probably want to use Blood Craze, Killer's blade and Reaping mark as well to increase your survivability.
Caltrops is a "nice to have", but the AP grinding might be too much

✭✭Caltrops are great for PvE, You can use them together with arrow barrage to procc siphoning strikes and do damage. Caltrops are woth casting them in ST-Fights bc of their long duration.
I'll include a FTC-spreadsheet of a fight against first boss/wgt...it was dps-wise 3rd best ability in this fight.
edit: rending slashes was better aswell, so it's only number 4 ^^

Flameheart✭✭✭✭✭Besides the damage thing...ask any tank in PvE, which isn't a DK and has chains, about Caltrops for pulling and tanking trash groups.
Answers should be similar, starting at "great", going over "priceless" to "godlike".
