Picking locks vs breaking locks

Has anyone tested whether you get better/worse loot from chests if you actually pick locks as opposed to breaking them out of impatience? I tried doing both for a while, but it didn't seem to be that much different.

I have 20 in legerdemain with all the lockpicking passives, and an endless supply of lockpicks (to break), so I'm just wondering whether it's actually worth my time to pick a few locks every now and then
Not even daedra have two left feet!

It is better to pick the locks yourself because you get experience for it. When you break the lock with your legermain skill, you get no XP for opening the chest. The XP you gain from picking, does add up over time.
Far too many characters to list any more.

The loot between breaking and picking is absolutely no different. As stated above, you get no exp when breaking a lock open.

However if you are at or beyond the cap or generally don't care about exp. Breaking them is a massive time saver.

In the end it doesn't really matter much, it's just preference.
    Here since Beta.
