Vigor is extremely useful as a stamina based HoT (Heal over time). It's actually the best one you'll find in the game. Caltrops is also extremely useful. It has a large radius, slows targets inside it and deals damage over time.
Proxy det is helpful to magicka builds for taking out large groups (be it mobs or other players).

So yep, there's definitely some really useful abilities in the alliance skill lines. Go get 'em!

All of those and I like to use Revealing Flare in IC sewers for night blades.

Don't forget the ultimares. Warhorn and especially Barrier is very usefull to cast right before your group charges into the inner keep.

rapid/Retreating is one of the strongest skills in the game for PvP,

barrier is the best support ultimate

prox det is a staple of FoTm cheese builds right now

vigor is the best HoT in the game

warhorn makes trial heal/defense checks easier

guard is situational but useful for tanks

flare is meh, but in the sewers it can save your life

The PvP skill line is the only one that seems to have every skill pretty well thought out. Every other skill line has holes in it, PvP is for the most part solid.

Until/if they change barrier, then it's pretty crap.
Tl;dr really weigh the fun you have in game vs the business practices you are supporting.
