Help - can't explain loss of magicka regeneration

Playing a DD magicka templar, last evening I completed crafting my v16 armour but when comparing it to previous stats I seem to have lost 180 Magicka Regen.

The previous set was V14, but I deconstructed it all before noticing, so I'm comparing it against screen shots from when I was wearing V12 armour. They are the same sets/traits/enachants, I've just gone from v12 purple to v16 gold. I'm still using the same jewellery and weapons that I was at v12. I have 2 of the 3 willpower pieces that I know will boost it as will my v16 swords, but for the sake of this comparison I've only effectively upgraded my armour. Changes to champion points are only really more into areas that would improve magicka region.

Also, the effects of the potion in the stats doesn't seem to add up either.

In summary....

Un-equiping/re-equiping and lots of other random things appear to make no difference.

The other weird thing is a REDUCTION in max magicka when I equip my swords but I'm putting this down to the maths involved when applying set (Magnus) bonus' from set items of mixed levels/qualities (v16 gold boots & belt plus v12 purple swords).


I can't see what has happened since I was v12 three weeks ago that would account for this loss.

    I'm not certain I know what's causing your magicka regen to drop, but a couple of things come to mind that you might want to check (if you haven't already):

    1. Do you have the same skills slotted as you had before? Perhaps a passive benefit for having something like Repentance on your bar is making the difference, or an ultimate.

    2. Have you since cured vampirism?

    3. Did you change any of your jewelry glyphs when you switched to vr16 versions? I know you mentioned having the same glyphs, but wanted to be sure you checked the jewelry ones too.

    The only other thing that comes to mind is the occasional bug where sometimes the game thinks you are still on your off-bar when you've switched to main, or vice-versa. I've noticed a drop in certain stats like this, and the fix for me has always been to bar-swap several times, or re-equip the gear.

    At this time, I'm not sure what else to try. But I will keep it in mind and let you know if I think of anything else!

    Having said the above about repentance, I don't think that is the case. Repentance buffs stamina, health and mag regen, and without repentance slotted, my figures for health and stamina regen are the same as v12. Bummer.

    If that's the case, then what Mages Guild skills are you using (or which ones were you using before, that you may not be using now)?

    I forget the exact % increase off-hand, but having a Mages Guild ability on your bar increases max magicka and magicka recovery. If you had Meteor on your bar before but don't now, that could be the difference as well.

    Another good point, still got Inner Light, Structured Entropy and Ice Comet slotted, they're the only ones I've unlocked. The buff is quoted as being 2% per item.

    It's a real puzzle. It really looks like something was over-buffing it previously, maybe there has been a sneaky 'nerf' (hate to use that word) somewhere.

    Wouldn't one Med Armor give you more stats with Undaunted?

    I have toyed with the idea of running one medium but would lose out on the added armour bonus if two heavy, and I'm already squishy enough. Once I get my medium traits up I will make one up to see what it does. Generally, I haven't really looked at the undaunted skill line, apart from trapping webs.

    Not regeneration just max stats either A you are in cyrodiil or wrothgar and the battle spirit changed it IE a level up reduced your boosted stats (BS was changed itself so it is a possibility) B a stealth nerf.

    This is actually a good point. If you had a light armor piece you were previously using, but are now using a medium piece instead, then you would have lost magicka recovery due to the light armor passives.
