WTF? Someone hit me for 70.000 Damage (Imperial City)

So a few minutes ago I was fighting Zerg vs Zerg, 1 second later I got a Random Hit and Died Instantly in 1 Attack.

I forgot to Screenshot this. But all Players in my Group saw it Happen.

I think they should cap damage at like 15k in PvP only ,then this foolishness would stop.

Since it was in IC it could also be a boss. I've seen some of them hitting for 50k+ with ambush.

Are you a vampire? Were you in werewolf form?

My first inclination is that you were stealth crit with evil hunter. This is possible, I've seen it and run with a guy who can do this to people. The thing is, there are a lot of factors and every single one of them has to fall into place for it to work. Does it suck to be hit with it? Yeah, most definitely. But it's not something that someone can just do to everyone they fight.

NPC archers in the IC can do some OP attack that does over 30k damage. Never seen 70k without it being someone exploiting the fall damage issues though.

In PvE it is possible.
Veteran White-Gold Tower. Boss Planar Inhibitor (flame/frost atronach). He hits me for about 230-270k
Some other bosses (City of Ash veteran) also hits for 80+k

You're referring to DoT effects. In the death recap, any form of damage over time (planar inhibitor, crematorial guardians, etc.) are displayed as a single value, which is actually the sum of all damage done by that skill over the course of its duration.

This point is still valid though. Could it be that OP took DoT damage? It doesn't seem likely from the way the situation is described. I'm still betting that he's a vamp.

Unfortunately I don't have a screenshot for you, but I have seen stealth crits, coupled with evil hunter, for certain attacks like lethal arrow and flawless dawnbreaker, hit for well over 100k (which is why I ask if he is a vamp/WW). There are a lot of variables here, so it's very difficult to pull off. Unless every single factor lines up perfectly, it won't happen.

I recognize the fact that it is highly unlikely that someone who hasn't seen this happen will not believe it without a screenshot, which is fair. Sorry I couldn't provide one at this time.
