Vet Maelstrom Time Until Reset if AFK

If I go back to the wayshrine from a death, will it reset after 5 mins? or is that only if I completely exit Maelstrom arena? thanks

When you exit or are logged off (inside or outside the arena) it will reset after a certain time

But what confuses me is that there's 2 kind of "exits" like out of the main arena (since the fighting never stops -_- ) and outside the portal into the arena, so...
