The math for the difference in damage between the two is easy to calculate for each skill, light/medium/heavy attacks, and the differential in critical chance is also easy to estimate - though with each target sporting a different resistant / impen, the actual crit damage will differ. It seems as though the average impen+resistant is about 40%, so that's what I used for my calculations.

I've taken the data from 43 duels over the past two weeks, the amount of damage I did from the logs to each opponent for each skill, in addition to the number of critical strikes (which is 2% more than my average crit % on the character) and the players on whom I got shield breaker procs and how many.

The exception to the math that threw the numbers off was two magicka sorcs who literally stood there and cast a rotation of curse -> healing ward -> frag -> hardened ward, and who I beat easily in less than 30 seconds. I've removed those two duels from my calculations, as I consider them incompetent duellers.

As far as the math and the probability calculations are concerned (and that's what most intelligent people will observe), a 5-set of Hunding's will give a normal player more damage than a 5-set of Shield Breaker in both duel and group play. If you can come up with a valid argument for that debate, I'm sure we'd all love to hear it.

Regarding your comparing heals are more HPS than shields, that's just nonsensical and a poor attempt to make your point. Had you said "Breath of Life is more HPS than Healing Ward" then that would be true.

Regarding your statement that when an "archer takes a frag to the face he's incompetent" - that's a gross oversimplification of a scenario that I'm sure nobody will agree with. Most players will take a frag to the face once in a while.

Next time you want to criticize someone, spend a bit more time thinking before giving an opinion that makes you look foolish.

lol @Crown and @ToRelax This argument over SB versus Hunding's is so pointless. They both serve different purposes. Also, in PvP, you usually target a minimum regen stat before pushing damage as high as you can. SB gives you a line of regen, which might replace a regen jewelry glyph, resulting in comparable weapon damage to Hunding's overall. And with everyone running impen and shields, the crit chance stat from Hunding's is less important than straight weapon damage. Not to mention proccing SB even once or twice gives immense value. Sure, the set is cheesey if someone's pew pewing with it from the back line of a zerg, but in a real fight with even numbered groups of good players, it won't amount to much. The SBer will either get focused first, or the shielded guy getting pew pewed at will position away from the threat and heal up.

Also @Force-Siphon mentioned Vita. He definitely deserves a mention here, although he hasn't logged on in a while.

Vita and I go even when we fight. Ninja San and Ara still can't beat me. I 1vXed Ninja and his crew a few times, and I've beated Ara in like half a dozen duels with RP walk on I also beat Aenlir in a nongank 1v1 from full health not long ago after his group of 3 or 4 got zerged down. He pulled back on some rocks, and I pursued alone.

You are so focused on "DPS", it's hilarious. Maybe you'll get the comparison when expressed that way: Comparing Hunding's and Shieldbreaker's damage bonuses is like comparing the shields granted by Breath of Life and Hardened Ward. They're just not the same thing.
SB deals direct damage to the health of a player, that ignores all damage and resist stats. Hunding's on the other hand profits from high damage stats, low crit and physical resistances as well as attacking non shielded targets or small shields.
As for oversimplifications, I don't think I'm the one starting with those - or what do you think why I am making comparisons?

Yes! haha That was over 8 months ago when I was still learning PvP and when sorcs were even more op, and you were still using Harness. I actually beat Sozin more than he beat me, and you would only fight me the once. Fighting better players is the best way to improve though! Now I win consistently against several sorcs who are better than you both, including Divine Force and Clarity (Cross), Qaevir, and asneakywhatever. Thanks for the funny memories though!

Well, people run builds that are specifically for duels if they are duelists. The kind of build you need for fight a few people or playing in a group are different, as is the play style. A truer category for "best" would be segregated into duelists, solo open world ("1vX" I guess), and team play.

Its hard to put a ranking on people, to compare playstyles, and harder still to compare current players to the legends of times gone past. I suppose my list makes up of duelers and small scale players mostly because its easier to spot them out as being exceptional, and you can be sure that they were fully carrying their own weight. But shout out to every group based NB who plays well and goes unnoticed.

@Araxleon: Was one of the first duels I remember feeling extremely outclassed, as if I was a lv10 again. I recall rematching multiple times that night to try to crack you and never got close. Nice guy too

Wizio, who I always thought of the new generation version of araxleon. Interesting to read that he initially helped you out. Had alot of fun dueling you and talking builds. Bonus points for you both for making magicka khajiits look OP

Jago, was always on point in fights. Was always a tough fight that usually ended badly for me, and when I had enough always a blast to watch you tear through multiple others haha

Kosmoko the foul mouthed teabagging A hole, but he can also walk the walk. Struggled to put a dent on you 1v1 during 1.6, and I remember getting killed during one of your 1vX's and being teabagged while you simultaneously fought off another 3 nubs (and won). Not the worst conversation partner when he isn't appearing offline

Lone Fenrir, been seeing him tear it up on haderus lately. Fast reactions, and crazy canceling for great dps combos.

Theres alot of others, most of which have been mentioned already in this thread, that I do not know well, but from the tiny bits that I've seen are also deserving. Thanks to valnas for back in the day hearing all my crazy (bad) ideas and helping me understand game mechanics

While it is true in lotsa cases that people do get high PvP rank without gettin gud, remember that there are high ranked NBs out there who have just been rekting face that long.

Vita and Aenlir will not lose 1v1 on a regular basis. I watched and fought Vita a lot back when he played more. He is extremely consistent and always a high pressure opponent. I have only fought Aenlir once, but I have watched him play and learned from him more than any other player. He was magicka when we fought, and I won, but god he's good. Unfortunately I can't stand up for the other 3 -- I don't know Yaz oo, I haven't seen Azoi play solo before, and I beat Ninja San easily.

Though I will always say Yiko is the best. I have never ran with another nightblade who would agree with my *weird* ideas to go into massive fights and engage on 3-4x our duo numbers and eventually win them. I guess Templar+NB duo is good. I just stall till Yiko kills everyone.

Just because you gank me while i was taking a resource alone that does not means you are a good NB. i would say you are good at picking the fight you can take. The real question here is who are the big balls NB here and that i would say i have encounter a couple of them that actually engage while outnumber and have come out victorious. So stop sucking each other dunggle and get back to the real problem here that is call FIX THE LAG IN CYRODIL.
