Light/Medium/Heavy Attacks Questions

I am on PS4, so I have no way of really testing damage output, so I have a few questions to anyone who knows:

1) Is there a damage calculation for how much damage your light/medium/heavy attacks do during combat?

2)Are medium attacks stronger the longer you charge them, since there seems to be a window of charge time in between a light attack and fully charged heavy? Or are there only 3 values for light/medium/heavy?

3) DK Molten Armaments Tool Tip ="40% damage increase on FULLY CHARGED heavy attack" . Sorcerer Bound Armaments Tool Tip = "Increased damage with heavy attacks by 11%". Does this mean that a medium attack (charged slightly more than a light attack) receives the 11% bonus for Bound Armaments, or do they also have to be fully charged?

4) I see a lot of people stating that for a damage based build with 167 blue tree CP, the preferred distribution is 100 mighty, 66 precise strikes, 1 piercing for stam or 100 Thaumaturge, 66 Elfborn, 1 Spell Erosion for Magicka (NB not Sorc). Is there any point at which putting some points into "Staff Expert" on a Magicka NB weaving attacks is more beneficial because of diminishing returns on either Thaumaturge or Elfborn?

5) The weapon Expert CP passives state "Increased damage on light and heavy". I am assuming this includes medium attacks as well? (Perhaps the game only acknowledges light, heavy, and fully charged heavy, and we as players invented the term medium?)

Any input is much appreciated.

Your are right, players invented medium. The game only recognizes light and heavy. The longer you charge your attack the more damage and medium weaving is much better for dps and also a lot easier to do imo. I never realized bound sourc armour did more damage with heavy attacks. That is cool.

    1. dunno, im on xbox, we have combat text coming
    2. I assume the longer the attack the more damage, not at set intervals of time
    3. Dunno, both abilities were Not written at the same time, bound came out in a much later update. Could just be different wording or could mean what you are asking
    4. I wonder similar things, waiting till i get 501 CPs to confirm for myself
    5. No real mediums therefore yes

    1. light attack dmg is the minimum dmg and fully-charged heavy attack is the max dmg. The duration of charging a medium attack determines where the dmg is set between min and max.
    2. yes, longer the charge is more dmg.
    3. No, sorcs get dmg bonus for medium charged attacks as well, this is only useful for stamina builds though. For magicka builds Bound Aegis is the better morph.
    4. Staff attacks always do elemental dmg so it would be wiser to put CP into Elemental Expert as NB instead of staff dmg. If you use Meteor the dmg will also be boosted. For magicka DKs and sorcs it can be useful to put 3-5CP into staff dmg because they usually max out Elemental Expert.
    5. The term medium is made up by players, the game only sees light attacks, heavy attacks and fully-charged heavy attacks. So all weapon attack dmg will be boosted, no matter how long you charge it.

Very interesting point on Elemental Expert that I hadn't considered. So hypothetically, if I put 10 points in Elemental Expert I will get 5% increase on light and heavy attacks with an inferno staff as well as 5% on other elementals (Ice Comet). Whereas if I do 10 points in staff expert I only get the 5% benefit on the light and heavy attacks?

Correct. With deminishing returns it may increase over all dmg for your character if you did 90 in elemental and 10 in staff expert instead of 100 in elemental (numbers just as an example)

Exactly, calculating the optimal distribution should be relative easy once you get a couple dps statistics without CP allocated.

Its important to subtract 50% of the weapon attack dps and add it to the dps of the elemental skills in order get the CP spread correct.

Shame no one actually answers the first question with what is being asked...the calculation...

If i have x magicka a stave with y damage what would a basic non crit dmg be...for a light attack and a full heavy.

I estimate that the base light attack damage with a staff is
    0.0139*Magicka+0.5603*Spell Damage+1.4827

This does not take into account CP or any skills/passives.
