Future "meta"?

What do you think, what class/build combo has chances to become a new "meta" in the next patches?
Knowing Zos, they will probably nerf the hell out of current meta builds so I'm curious about fellow players' opinions. ;)

Good question. No one really knows.
First we have to be able to define "meta"...
Really we do it without like, the musical instruments. This is the only musical: the mouth. And hopefully the brain attached to the mouth. Right? The brain, more important than the mouth, is the brain. The brain is much more important.

They won't be nerfing anything explicitly. You can expect some champion system changes though, so it may lessen the effectiveness of OP spam skills like Surprise Attack and Wrecking Blow.

However, I foresee the FOTM builds remaining relatively constant, except for magicka Sorc which will likely become slightly stronger.

if things continue to progress as they are, and no action is taken, the meta will eventually be everyone being a tank, healer and dps all in one.

If they fix the Kajiit's passive, I could see them being used a lot with whatever the flavor of the month class.

Today's meta most likely will be meta in next update. Mag sorcs and stamblades aren't going anywhere, they are safe bet to be meta in next update. Maybe DKs gonna get some love, but doubt that it will be enough to make them meta. Templars? Don't make me laugh, they probably gonna get nerf.

i wish nightblades gets nerfed...so i can play them in peace without having ppl scream how op they are... played NB since 1.2 lol and all these PRO console players and new pc users dont even know stamina NB didnt even exist before 1.5 or 1.6 (i forgot) when they introduced stamina morphs for quite a few main skills Stam NB nowadays use.

It is interesting how the nerf cannon is always pointed at the Templar for some reason. ZoS has really jacked the class up IMO. I still like playing mine but the skills are an absolute mess.

I don't know but I expect magicka sorc to take a huge nerf in the face, since we've been top of the pops for quite a while now...
I guess templars and DKs will be buffed and back up again.

I'm gonna make a couple predictions for battlegrounds/arenas.
Stam blades and other glass cannon builds will be very weak in the beginning. Sustain will be strongest as teams fight around ultimates. But as teams improve and are better co-ordinated early burst damage and ganking moves will become strong.

Can't wait for some sort of battlegrounds.
Anyone know of Smite, or any MOBA's?!? How awesome would 5 on 5 battle arena ESO be??

Very hard to say. Imho it will be hard to change one part of the current meta:

If stamina is supposed to be at least close to magicka in pve, it will be very strong in pvp. The reasons

    1) CPs have spellshield vs l/m/h focus and addition only hardy/elemenal but nothing for pyhsical defense.
    2) good magicka builds use dots in pve - there are stamina dots (bow, rending, uf), but they are far less popular. for dps. those can be purged and counter healed in pvp. Burst is more dangerous.
    3) Dodge roles are crucial for every build. They can better be supported by stamina builds.

That said, class balance for stamina classes comes down to 1) good stamina mrophs of class damage skills and 2) great utility magicka dumps.

Imho 2) is by FAR the more important thing. Fear and cloak are just superb. Igneous shield and fossilize are very strong. Purifying ritual, bshield, repentance, sorc armor are all nice but not as good as the others.

If templars would get blinding flashes back in the current meta, stamplars would be the fotm. However, there is no blinding flashes and I don#t think we'll see them again.

The other part are damage shields. I don't think they're too strong in general, but they are simply terrible OP against certain things (templar jab/sweeps), destructive touch, winterborn, etc, and actually also siege damage. The whole def defense but no crit damage thing is weird but I could accept it. However, secondary effects on-damage not working against shields (templars burning light, destro knockback, winterborn proc, etc, etc) really ruin some builds. If siege damage becomes strong and especially oil catas slow people so that metbags hit them and leave unprugeable heal debuffs, then barriers HVAE to be changed or they will be the primary to only meaningful defense mechanism used.

Again, we don't know much yet and everything can change. For all that we know (changed sieges, not much else), I'd guess that mobile mag sorcs and stam blades that set up sieges and run around in dark cloak or blink in between, will dominate.

But let's see what else gets changed

With 501 CP an Argonian Stamplar could be quite the damage dealer. With their potion and healing bonuses, it opens up more options for CP placement. Their only "questionable" passive is the swim speed. Other than that, there's nothing wrong with their passives IMO. If ZOS changed the Swim Speed to anything else, they'd be a pretty good class.

Magicka sorc or magicka Nightblade. Stamina builds are going to be weaker in every aspect once they come out with a resist physical damage passive.

    we know two things.

    increased cp
    some form of organised pvp.

my vote goes towards sustain builds. cps will become more and more effective soft caps as they are raised. also. due to having more equal numbers of each attribute, having higher cp cap also means less and less players will get 1-shotted leading to less and less glass cannon builds.
