Kicked twice in a half our for being over message rate limit-WTF?

What the heck is going on, as per the title, kicked out twice in a half hour even though I haven't sent a single message. I'm really starting to lose patience with the buggy crapfest that this game has become.

I swear this comes up so often that there should be a thread stickied with the title "So you don't understand what message rate limit means"

It's not about a message you might send to another player. It's about the messages your client sends to the server. When you get kicked for this it means that something has gone wrong with your connection to the server (maybe on your end, maybe on ZOS's end, maybe somewhere in between) and your client is trying to send a whole bunch of messages all at once because they have built up.

So, for example, there's a problem in your connection and you're hitting a skill over and over with nothing apparently happening. Your client is trying to send a message for each time you hit that skill, but because your connection is screwed up they're not going through when you're hitting the keys. Instead they all build up for however long and then get sent (or received) all at once, so you get kicked for exceeding the message rate limit.

This can also be caused by addons that perform multiple actions in a short time. So if it happens frequently and you are sure that there is nothing wrong with your connection to the zos server, try disabeling all addons.

I swear i've typed that ^ out so many times.... they really do need to make it a sticky.

It means you lagged and you hit the data cap when everything caught up and were booted. Re-log an d move on.

Its a addon problem. One of my char cant access the bank atm w/o geting disconected with this message. Beeing too lazy to compare with other chars what addons this one has that other dont and causes the problem, I disable all add on when I want to use the bank. It works every time.

I haven't had this happen since the early days when i used to send those messages to request 20K gold with a title saying "here's some gold" while being at the vampire shrine earning more gold, hahaaa... this game was so much fun then.

Do you use Bank manager or another add-on that auto-deposits? For Bank Manager you can set a small delay between transactions that will prevent this.

It's not specifically an addon problem, but it's a problem that can be instigated by addons. It can happen without any addons as well if you've got connection issues - it's just more likely to occur with addons (and some addons make it more likely than others).

Yep this. Added ShissusLua memory add on and never had issues again
