I know many people were disappointed with the latest ESO Live episode, but then...

Infinite crafting bags for ESO+ subscribers are coming with the Dark Brotherhood DLC!

We may not be getting new skill lines or new vet dungeons, but think of all the glorious bag space!

I wonder what he meant by Infinite Bag space for your crafting mats. Does that mean we can store thousands of each material, or will we have say a slot for 200 of each material we can craft with?
Enjoy the game, life is what you really want to be worried about.

Yeah I'm hoping it is legitimately infinite, particularly since we have to pay for it. Limiting it to 200 for things like Ancestor Silk would be completely worthless.

I knew they were thinking about adding crafting bags for ESO+ subs, but this sounds better than what I could have hoped for. It does sound like it will never fill up and that's freaking awesome. ZOS, you can have my money.

While I welcome the idea of a crafting bag as I'm a hoarder in games like this, I don't like the idea of it being infinite.

Apart from the 6 different food/drink items for the writs I have in my inventory I don't use my inventory for anything other than crafting mats so what is the point in spending gold buying more if I'm going to have an infinite amount of space store anything?

I hope it's limited to a stack of 200 for each item otherwise I can't envisage a scenario where I'll ever need to go back to a town to unload because I have no room left I can just spam an area for all the loot possible.

Like I said above, 200 would be useless for equipment crafters, that's 1 1/2 v16 items worth.

You may not need more than six slots, but I have hundreds of slots filled with crafting mats. I need the bank space for transferring items to other characters for deconstruction and such, so I end up trying to divvy up materials across different characters for long term storage... the moving them around when I need space on a character for questing or dungeons... huge PITA.

So glad the inventory management mini game is coming to an end.

They said INFINITE. Lol. Better be INFINITE! Although we don't know how they will work. Will it just be instant.. Pick up a trait stone and it goes to a special part of your inventory that all characters can access? Or will it act like a bank where we at least have to go to the bank to deposit, but don't need to remove it to use it.

I forgot about the amount of mats it takes for the newer VR levels. However, dont you think a stack of 200 mats (armour crafting aside) for the majority of mats is more than enough as the demand just isn't there for you not to be able to replenish your stock in time.

The only thing an infinite materials bag is going to do is create lower prices as no one will have to decide on what mats they want to keep as they can keep them all, therefore create as much as they want.

As I said I like the idea of a separate bag for materials just not an infinite amount. Crafting is already casual enough this just makes it even easier for everyone to be a master crafter in what should be a specialised skill.

I think the infinite bag is brilliant for two reasons:
    1. For us players, we don't have to try and track what we have vs what we don't. I'm out farming enchanting runes, I see an essence node, turns out to be Deni. Hmm, how many of those are in my bag, do I have 200 yet? Should I leave it? All that goes away and we just farm our hearts out.
    2. For ZOS, they basically get to lock us in to ESO+. If I have 5000 mats in my crafting bag, I'm going to think really hard before I cancel my sub.

I really don't think this will trivialize crafting. It won't make research faster. It won't unlock motifs. It will just put an end to the inventory mini game which is, IMO, the worst part of crafting in this game.

That's my whole point bank/inventory space becomes obsolete with ESO+. I've been a sub since day 1 and I'm a crafter I just think there should be a limit to how much it holds otherwise it cheapens crafting even more imo.

I think this will have quite the opposite effect. Since no one will be dumping mats into guild stores, the prices on the mats that are listed will spiral up.

The easiest way that I can see to do this will be to simply remove the stacking limit for crafting materials for ESO Plus members. While you are an ESO Plus member, you can stack to "infinity" (defined by ZOS as "a very large number"). If you are not ESO Plus, you cannot grow any stack that has more than the max stack size. In this way, if you dropped ESO Plus, your stacks would be usable, but you would not be able to add to them or create new oversized ones.

There are a ton of edge cases and supporting aspects, of course, so it is not something that is trivial.

Still.. they had better be VERY clear about what will happen to those 'infinite' bags/stacks if you happen to drop your ESO+ subscription. That would be excruciatingly painful if you lose your ESO+ sub only to find out that your bags are gone, and with it, all of the crafting material you put in there...

Can't see that happening I'd imagine if you drop your sub you can no longer add anything ton the mats bag buy can withdraw. Similarlyrics to the guild bank if you fall below 10 members you can withdraw just not deposit

I disagree. Theres trophies, disguises, alternate gear, food, potions, siege, etc. Plenty of stuff to keep your bank and bags meaningful.

I would rather use my bank space for PvP junk when not doing PvP, bait, and gear sets at various levels for when I level my next alt. I don't want to waste space for mats.

It is not clear the this would lower the price of mats.

Reasons why it might not lower prices:
    • Food mats are already often underpriced. I buy up food mats at around 5g a piece and then make food that sells for 5g a piece for a nice profit. (5g + 5g -> 5g x 4). I don't see why bags would lower those prices.
    • More expensive mats are more expensive because they get used up. Bags won't make Kuta or purple food ingredients cheaper. More bag space won't stop people from destroying high end mats -- because they already don't destroy them.
    • More inventory space can mean more hoarding -- which means less supply in guild stores. I sell low level gear mats to clear out inventory space. I might hoard them if not for inventory space, meaning less supply in stores. I practically never use the low level gear mats I hoard as I re-use drop sets when leveling alts.
    • Most players don't have ESO+

Reasons why it could lower prices:
    • Certain food mats could drop in price because people won't have to make space for more valueable items. This also means people might autoloot every container everywhere. More looting also means more items like motif books, which could lower prices on non-mats too
    • Extra bag space means more gear hoarding when questing -- which means more deconstructed gear and more mats.

I see no problem though with lowering the prices of mats. And I find the idea that it would devalue crafting absurd. More mats means more crafting. If people are referring to the prices they get from selling items they craft, good riddance.

What do you mean? Like a shared bag among characters so they don't need the bank? I'm guessing no.

My guess is that either mats still take inventory slots but can be stacked to arbitrarily high numbers (though too many digits would mess up UI) or they do not take slots, but can still be stacked to higher numbers than 200. I am curious if this will just apply to character inventory or bank also.

I would think that it would be like ESO+ DLCs.You unsub and you lose the usage of those DLCs.Same should be with the bags. You shouldnt get to use them at all if you unsub. They should issue a warning about this though.
I am sure some of you have differing opinions though, which is fine.

Not when you need 130-160 mats PER PIECE for top lvl armor/weapons.

In the short term, it may actually increase prices, as crafters begin to fill up stock to a level they find comfortable instead of shunting stuff to the guild stores to keep enough space free.

They said unlimited, I hope they don't change this. As for unsubbing, they should allow you to pull things out the cost time you log in ayer the sub expires. No reason to be particularly punitive about it.

Very happy to have a crafting bag on it's way… just like the one we have been asking since Beta. ;) Thank you, thank you!

Loving the fact that it is for ESO Plus members only. Should bring a few folks back onto sub, although I am imagining anyone who likes the game enough to be full blown crafters probably subs anyway.

Can't wait to see what type of bank bug hits ye ole crafting sack with stacks in the 1,000s.

Should be on PTS early FEB I guess so let's make sure and try and break it! Going to set up one person in our crafting guild and have everyone send them all their extra matts and see if the bag runneth over so to speak.

I thought Crafting Bags was a great idea, and a solid reason why I might keep my subscription. But the rub is ESO also announced a 204 annual CP cap. I've learned to manage my inventory nicely, so the question for me is "Do Crafting Bags tip the scale to keep subscribing if it will be YEARS before seeing max level CP?" I'm closing in on 501 CP now. If the 51 CP/Qtr cap sticks, I can see playing through new DLC for a month or so, enough time to gain 51 CP, and then moving on to other games or media. For me, Crafting Bags will not be a strong enough incentive to outweigh CP limits as a reason to remain subscribed.

I bought 10 accounts, so I could make private guild banks for me and my friends. This has been a huge help for inventory management. I picked up discount keys, so no, I did not spend a fortune to do it. However, this is going to solve the problem of having my entire bank and primary guild bank, packed full of craft mats. The regular bank is great for auto access to crafts, but the GB is only good for storage. Plus, the GB won't auto stack (I use Roomba add on fortunately). I'm really tempted to get the monthly sub and this craft bag.

The sub will eventually give me enough crowns to pick up the merchant and bank assistants, then I'll be playing in the field for as long as I wish, without the need to find a town to unload. Really too tempting to pass up.
