Dunmer Fire mage suggestions?

So after the few month break of new games not being fun, I find myself back here having a lot of fun last night.
Since its been a while since I've played, I wanted to make myself a dunmer fire mage with emphasis on flame damage (duh....but I mean just maximizing the damage I can output.)
Problem is that I didnt read the skills before I made my new character and i made a templar thinking all of the "burning" abilities meant flame, when for some asinine reason it means magic damage. That leaves me with about 1 flame spell and a few destro skills.
Is there any way to salvage this character, or should I just reroll to DK? (which is probably what I should have done in the first place)
