First of all, your post is all messed up.
All clothing (whether light or medium) writs cost around 25 VR14 materials and 15 VR16 materials. The only ones that require more VR14 materials are the blacksmithing ones.
Unless something crazy is going on, you can not get a mercenary motif from crafting writs, you may be referencing glass motif fragments.
The recipes you mention are from provisioning writs and those cost virtually nothing to do, so that is all profit.
You also failed to mention getting surveys back. Depending on your luck, these typically yield 50-100 raw materials, which can be refined and also produce dreugh wax in the process.
I can assure you that doing your writs daily will make you gold in the process, not the other way around.

Don't let the facts get in the way of a good argument!
Alchemy, enchanting, and provisioning writs are for sure worth it....even just for the 600 gold you get. The mats needed are common/easy to get and often times replaced either from the hireling, surveys, or writs containers.
For me, clothing writs asking for light items are worth it since I'm all medium
Clothing writs asking for medium I just delete, not worth it.
Woodworking writs, mats are very plentiful, so no reason to not do them. 600+ gold is nice
Blacksmithing writs....I usually pass. I use DW and 2H...trying to save my mats for new weapons.

I don't understand your "Don't let the facts get in the way of a good argument!" when the facts are that you will make gold from doing your writs every day. There is no argument here, just seems like more uninformed people on this forum looking for something to complain about.

You will only use void for writs (which is everywhere, especially if you farm some nirn), and your rewards will be surveys in Crag, which OFTEN give nirn stones, along with gold tempers. Then switch when you want to stop doing writs and actually farm rubedite.

then you wont be able to craft the 160CP gear sets though right? Isnt that the point of leveling up crafting skills, to be able to craft the best stuff?
I agree 100% with you on the writs its MUCH easier and more rewarding that way I just dont know how you do both. Maybe make the gear you want then respec your points and only put 9 in until you need to make more/different gear?

Your replying to an old thread that is no longer relevant as the top level write onky require CP150 crafting. No linger need sub CP140 matts.
