Hello. I recently returned to the game and was working on a sub 50 NB warlock and Magicka dps Templar. I have an old VR2 pyro mage style DK I want to work on. I started the Caldwell silver and wanted to know, in order to get to VR16 these days, can I just do the required quests to complete silver and gold and then goto Craiglorn and Orsinium to hit VR16, or do I need to clear the whole zone and do all side quests etc in order to hit VR16?

I tend to do solo stuff more right now with having a new baby, can't always have the time to run group content. I am also more of a PvE player.

Any guidance would be appreciated.

While tedious, doing all the side quests will get you there albeit very slowly. If you just do the main quests in Silver and Gold you probably won't hit it when you complete Orsinium. Craglorn is still group oriented and finding anyone to do the content there is pretty difficult.

As a solo pve'er, your options are quests or grind mobs.

Story won't get you all the way but once you go to orsinium there are dailies and other such (and yay more grind) to get you to vet 16.

That said, as a solo pve'er, quests are really the only content.

I've been doing Cadwell's Silver and almost finished and I'm up to VR7. Though I'm doing all the side quests as well as the main ones and scavenge around which suits my playing style.

from experience i can tell if you do, do all side quest in cadwell's silver/gold and orsninium you will reach vet 16 without anything else. so then you don't need to go to IC/craglorn/cyrodill or grind mobs. but it's not the fastest way, but for me the most rewarding especiallly when you haven't finished it yet on any character and it helps finding lore books/skyshards whch is always nice

my Templar is now vr14 and I have not done a single quest in Gold yet. The ONLY quests I did for silver were the ones you need to do to progress. Just running around getting skyshards, discovering locations, doing delves and world bosses got me this far easily....and some PvP but that does not level you up very quick. No XP boosts or Ambrosia or ring of mara either. As long as you are not spending all of your time grinding for mats you will level up no problem

As solo pve'er, there's not all that repeatable stuff to do at vr16. I suggest playing through the zones without actually aiming to reach max level.

Playing through the zones and doing group dungeons will get you to V16, especially with the repeatable quests in Orsinium. Sounds like you should at least do silver and gold to see if you enjoy all the quests. You can also sub and you will get more XP.

Also, they significantly buffed XP for quests since you have played. In fact, my new characters often outlevel the zones quickly.

1 silver or gold zone has exactly the right amount of XP in terms of quests, delves, WB's and dungeons to give 1 vet level, you'd possibly hit V11 at the end of it all, then wrothgar up to V13 it should make it there, IC the next part, all the quests there give stupidly good XP for one more.......then it's just a 2hr grind with some Ambrosia in a cave or IC sewers to V16, sounds easy right? alternatively what I've been doing on my NB is just a one hour grind per day in a Cyro cave and that's one vet level done, so 2 weeks and I've maxed it out.

I was told yesterday that doing all the cyrodil dailies will get you a vet level a day if you use an XP potion.
